Title: All-Star
Post by: Wilfong on 07/19/04, 08:35:03 AM
I'm sure you guys have already done this, but here are my RBI All-Stars (no bench players) - based on personality as well as performance. (Yes, I have way too much time on my hands)

C  - Tim Laudner
1B - Keith Hernandez
2B - Lou Whitaker
3B - Doug DeCinces
SS - Alan Trammel
LF - Vince Coleman
CF - Chili Davis
RF - Candy Maldonado
P -  Dwight Gooden
RP - Charlie Kerfield
Sub - Rob Wilfong

It's a shame Luis Polonia isn't in the game, he would have been the team captain. Does anyone else love that guy?

FYI, here are our rankings which admittedly need to be updated:

my god, you guys have covered everything, haven't you? is there any way i can come up with something new for the rbi board?

one note, a couple people have mookie listed in cf and on the team page he's listed in lf. if he is in lf, does that mean pettis sweeps the worst cf spot?

From the RBI instruction booklet:

Dykstr     LF     L    .295    8    C    A   Lenny Dykstra
Wilson    CF     L    .289    9    C    A   Mookie Wilson

Also, everyone got to put together their own All-Star teams courtesy of DvlDog (may he rest in peace :)) and we also all voted for best players at each position.  The RBI board was out of control at that point in time.

I have to wonder why I'm just finding this page and posting now. That would have been the perfect way to kill time at work.
So the RBI board is a shell of its former self?
-So there really is no way for me to post anything new, is there?

I recommend going back and reading old RBI posts and then bump them with your new responses.  There's probably some good stuff that many of us haven't read or discussed yet.  Usually starts up some good discussion.

I'll give it a shot. I have to get beyond Santana level. Then again, Gladden and Walling levels aren't all that great either. They've really added incentive to post a ton.

-Mclane, are you the one who saw Fantomas and other Mike Patton bands live? I haven't seen him in anything yet, it's really killing me.

No, not me.  Shit, who was that?

I have no idea who it was. I thought maybe you were from the Bay area and got to see all of that. A friend of mine saw him and he urinated into a shoe and then drank it. I can't imagine a better live show.

Mr. Bungle is a strange group from SF. They mix pretty much every musical style in their songs. It can go from surf, to death metal to pop in a few seconds. Their singer, Mike Patton, was in Faith No More. I think www.bunglefever.com might have some samples, I know they have live stuff on there, but the quality isn't the greatest on most of them. I highly reccommend them and anything Patton has done. - They covered RBI live. I think someone said that's on the dee-nee site.

And of course your friends at dee-nee.com have an mp3 of Mr Bungle on the Media Page:

http://dee-nee.com/rbi/sounds/MrBungle-SMB_RBI.mp3

It's a live song where Mr. Bungle covers the Super Mario Theme and breaks into the RBI music at the very end...

Have you guys heard the Bungle song, Carousel, which samples the end of the inning music? I can't think of a better way to end a song.
