Milwaukee (AP) - Tampa Bay opened its season taking game 1 in convincing fashion behind the 11 K's of Felix Hernandez. King Felix tossed a 1 hit shutout in a mercy-rule shortened game (5 innings). Offensively Tampa's speed at the top of the lineup gave the Brew Crew fits. Chone Figgins, Dexter Fowler and Carl Crawford stole a combined 4 bases and legged out infield single after infield single. The Brewers weren't aided by the leagues worst defense as they committed many user errors allowing Rays runners to advance all over the virtual diamond.

Milwaukee (AP) - Game 2 of this series went much like the first did. Solid all-around play by the lefty speedster Rays offense was too much for the Crew to handle. Aaron Cook threw surprisingly well, striking out 11 in 5 and 2/3 innings while allowing only 1 hit (a Tulowitzki HR). Team captain Todd Helton had a few choice words for commisioner Turd Jansen after the series.. "That beating we just put on the Brewers is for that preseason writeup the league office let out last week. We would have kept going and going, we were trying for 25 runs a game, but umpire-in-chief Jim Joyce ended both games early. I think he started feeling sorry for them, the fans probably weren't happy to see their team just get worked over like that." Rays manager Joe Maddon tried to smooth things over a bit after hearing Helton's comments..."That's just Todd being Todd, he gets excited after big wins. You have to love the way he plays the game and leads by example. I'm really glad my starting pitchers put forth solid efforts and didn't have to go 7 or 8 innings in their first outings of the year. I was able to save the bullpen and get everyone a little bit of work which should come in handy for this weekends series against the Pirates."

These games were the least fun I've probably ever had playing RBI. Speed played a HUGE factor. Beware people. The game changer started with his draft, and I predict this happened by accident.
I have no doubt in my mind he drafted for speed. And that alone doesn't do the trick. It helps immensely, but what seals the deal is his shitty power. Most of his hits are so slow that they take forever to get to the SS, and by the time he fields it, the speed takes them on base. It's pretty nasty...after that, he's able to hit home before you even have a chance.
Plus he's a good pitcher...I seriously can't hit off the guy. I pitched awful in these games, and fielded even worse. I made so many mistakes, I was getting very angry. It was the first time I've gotten angry at RBI in a long time, and I lose enough games, but I usually just keep it casual in defeat. For some reason, I was doing dumb shit.
Man, at the end I simply just left my pitcher in and hoped for a mercy rule. That was embarrassing.
Watch out folks, this kid could go somewhere.
Nothing about this was/is an accident. ^-^
In "anything goes" pitching there is no point to have power hitters unless you can square up on balls.....which isn't easy to do.
If this was a "straight down the middle" league, Turdcake, my drafting strategy would have been a bit like yours!
