Title: Co @ Mi
Post by: Turd on 07/08/10, 11:35:45 PM
Beautiful night at Miller park for some baseball...

I wasn't gonna play, but he's been trying to reach me for a while, and I gave in and played him.  I felt like I needed some positive output from my fatty mcwhities.

Game 1

AB    AVG     H    1B    2B    3B    HR    SO    SB    ER    R
jackandjose (Co)   420.357  1575121400    9
Turd (Mi)   290.138  421011200    1

This game I felt good first few innings.  That is until I started hemmorhaging runs..I pitched pretty well, but I gave up a good amount of action due to shit-tastic fielding. I was hitting the ball, it just wasn't leaving the outfield.  I got one mercy homer by Tulowitzki after his pitcher was gassed, but it didn't make a dent in his 9 runs.  I did end up completing the game and killing his chance of a third straight mercy rule game vs. the Turd.

Key to the loss: Fielding like shit resulting in lots of runs for the Rocks.

Game 2

 AB    AVG     H    1B    2B    3B    HR    SO    SB    ER    R
jackandjose (Co)   330.242  870011111    2
Turd (Mi)   350.371  1392021001    4

This game was a pitcher's duel for the first 5 innings or so, when I left a hanging fastball over the plate and he jacked it for 2 runs. I immediately got angry, and talked myself out of being able to win. I couldn't hit the ball out of the outfield last game, so how was I gonna come back from a 2-run deficit?  I mean, I was hitting the ball well, but who was I kidding?  Well, the answer came shortly thereafter.  McCann was up to bat with one on, and he jacked a homer! Joy! Rapture! I tied it up.  I could have died happy there.  But wait, there's more...Gerut steps up, gaps the 1st/2nd basemen, and then Tulowitzki came to bat. And boy did he ever...1 pitch in he jacked a 2-run go-ahead shot, his second bomb in as many games.  From there on out, the 'pen pitched pitched a fantastic game, only putting me in danger once.  Soriano came in to shut the door with 1 out left in the 9th, and we broke our losing streak.

Key to the win: Clutch hitting and good enough fielding to get the job done.

GGs SuckerPunch, and good luck the rest of the season.

Thanks for staying up and playing me Turd!  I was on a high in that second game after Hawpe hit that pinch hit 2-run blast off the screen and thought I would cruise to victory.  You had a great 6th inning which will teach me to take out a tired pitcher when facing the heart of a lineup.  Still, I thought I would be able to come back, but you pitched awesome and didn't make any fielding errors and earned a great victory.
