One Flap Down here,
I've got a possible addition to the Glossary. Wanted to post this to the Forum to see if it is worthy. Here goes.........
I call it "The Handshake" and should be worth at least 3 sluggs of a beer by your opponent if you execute it properly. It's when you are pitching to your opponent and you get him to ground out to your pitcher. But instead of simply throwing the ball to first base for the easy out, you push B and have your pitcher run all the way over to first base. However, right before he gets to the bag (and I mean right before), you push A and throw the ball to the first basemen. At this point, the pitcher is so close that it looks like they are shaking hands. Other possible names are "The Toss", "The Handoff", "The Stroke" or simply "Buff Job".
I like the move because groundouts to the pitcher are not too common but happen every once in a while. Plus it adds insult to injury that you got your buddy to ground out to the pitcher.
What do you guys think? Glossary worthy?
or you can call it simply, 'the dumbest thing i've ever heard of."
You're right. Its absolutely pathetic.
By the way, how do I check out this "Goonfest" thing. It thounds thuper thilly. It thouds like a real thwell time. Can I bring my biker shorts to the next stank Brewers game????
I do this all the time, you're not alone. Chubbs also does it. Why bother throwing when you can just outrun the fucker. It's especially important to do if a big hitter like Reggie or DaEvans is the victim.
You think its Glossary material?

Well, I don't usually do "the handshake," I just run it all the way over. Besides, my opinion on the glossary doesn't really matter. The high priests of dee nee, Lips and Gantry, are the ones you need to speak with.
One flap, I do it often. Run up to the first baseman and chuck it when you're like a n inch away from him.
Just wondering if anyone elso does this. Since i was little I have always stepped off 1st and throw the ball into the stands after a force out with no one on. It never really goes in but i do it constantly out of habit.

I used to do that, but I've now got a weird superstition that by doing this, I'm going to somehow cause my 1B to get into the habit of making errors, and would lead to a bonk or a random throwing error later.
Chubbs and I do this after every out with no man on. At the end of the game, whoever has the least amount of errors drinks the difference.

I do this every game, and in fact challenge myself to see how many throwing errors I can get.
Once, I made it to 23 -- just four short of a "perfect game."
That is funny shit. I never tried counting them. I will have to see home many I can get. Sounds like a new drinking game.....
I've chucked it into the wall after the force at 1B since I was like 8 years old. Like McLane, we also drink the difference in errors at the end of the game.
As for the handshake, SalBando and I do it pretty frequently but we always did it cause we thought it looked like the pitcher was punching the 1B in the face.
Get off the shed! I'll punch you in the face!
My hand is gonna have a meeting with your ass if you don't get off the damn shed!
I don't do the handshake, but I almost always run the ball to the base for the out if it is possible. In a two-player game, I do it for the anger it creates in the opponent. Laughing all the way to the base = pure anger in opponent!!!

This is the exact reason Chubbs and I utilize this tactic. Simply to laugh hard and call each other names. Always fun.
I agree Mclane, it's adding insult to injury by running it over to the base. The best is getting the Tony Armas play. I had one a few weeks ago, it was close, but when I got him I jumped up and celebrated as if I had just won a really close play. However, when the ball is run to first, the batter always vows revenge for the player who was just beaten to first. I generally say "___ won't forget that."
it's always great to insult a lack luster hit.... like when the player lays down on the field going for a ball... i think you guys call it a spongebob.... staying on the ground till the last second then throwing. the handshake is the ultimate slap in the face though....devastating to morale when combined with the tony armas play...
you can't do the 'handshake' with the tony armas play b/c that play is always close. armas is always right there, so when the 3Bman gets close enough to even try a handshake, he'll end up tagging out armas first.
in the seconds immediately after the out....
