Title: Glossary Term?
Post by: OzzieLongBall on 07/26/04, 07:07:13 PM
I saw on another thread that someone was nominating a term they use for the glossary, and it got me thinking... me and my friends use the term "Foosball Effect" in reference to the fielders in RBI who are seemingly "linked" together... does anyone use somethin similar, a reference to the table soccer game where the players are attached by a stick?? I know players are different speeds, and will EVENTUALLY get closer if you run really far distances in RBI, but this doesn't happen on any normal hit.. What can happen is that if you move one player too far to get a ball that you end up just missing, you leave your other players in a poor position to field the ball.. for example, if you move your second basemen far over to the right to get a ball that inevitably gets through, your right fielder may be too far over to stop the ball from gettin to the wall, and possibly allowing a double... in this situation, we yell "foosed", bc obviously in real baseball you're allowed to have more than one person go after a batted ball...

what do ya think?

I hate it when that happens.  There is one way to prevent it...play more RBI.  Practice makes perfect.
