Title: Potsie hit the wall with Mike Witt
Post by: Gantry on 08/02/04, 06:52:53 PM
I am now 100% behind the pitcher homer.  We decided to only pitch down the middle to the pitcher today and Witt crushed it right at wallzie height down the left-field line.  Hit the bottom of the wall.  Wow...

The key to pitcher homers is not to pitch it all the way outside.  We will get one...

Potsie follows it up with a single for Witt down the left-field side.  I think the Smutton is benched for my Cali games...

About 7-8 years ago i hit one out with Dwight Gooden just over the left field wall.  I thought it would hit the very top of the wall (which it probably should have), but like the ones that "disappear" into the wall at the foul line, it was called a homer.   It's never happened to me since, and i've always considered it some kind of fluke or bug in the game.

I've hit two pitcher home runs in my entire life, with Cox from St. Louis and Saberhagen from AL All-Stars. Also, I've had one hit against me by Donnie Moore in the bottom of the 10th to tie the game. It definitely happens.

All three were what you'd call "wallzies,' by the way.
