Just for grins, I decided to try out something new to determine base power ratings for RBI. I was wondering what people thought of these ratings. I'm well aware there are a number of players who might be lower than the minimum from the original (some ratings in the 600s), but since these are base ratings, I planned on tweaking them.
A lot of these could be used as is, in my opinion, but I wanted to know what the rest of you thought...

Pena for the Cubs has a REALLY high # considering he only hit 28 dingers in nearly 600 ABs last year.
Cool, thanks for the feedback...I thought some guys were a little high or low and could be tweaked.
Overall, do they look fair to you?
I would think Youk would have a higher power number than Crawford and Drew.
based on postseason, i say give ross a little boost for SF.
I really don't follow current players so I'm rather worthless, but Pena is what stood out to me on the Cubs
Thanks guys. That helps...quieter than normal, this section is....
How were these rankings determined. Seems so random. Just looking at the first bunch of teams:
Upton 807
Heyward 866
Uggla 905
Scott 910
Upton at 807 is way too low. Scott seems high, etc.
Isn't there a formula that can be used to get a more accurate number?
I wouldthink that there should be some sort of weighted average based on the last 2 season's HR/AB or something
I had a formula for last year. I just wanted to try something new to see how it worked.
To be honest, I worked out a formula using ratings from MLB2k11. I wasn't 100% going to use them. It's just an experiment. Something to take the monotony out of hand rating players. I have less an less time these days, so I put a premium on playing instead of editing. Thought this might help.
What I'll probably do is use a hybrid of these and my formula.
Alright, so they are kind of random. I'll just use my formula from last year. I think it works well...
I looked at St. Louis since that is my favorite team. Thought it seemed odd that Holliday was a bit lower than Rasmus. Then I looked at Theriot's power number. 876? How did you come up with that?
875 + 1
Read above, it was an experiment using MLB2k11 ratings. I've abandoned this system, just wanted o see how it looked when I ran the whole rosters through.
Hope this is the right thread. Turd, on Reds pitchers, Rhodes doesn't play for them anymore. He signed with Texas. My suggestion for a replacement would be Aroldis Chapman. His fastball should be rated 105.1.
It's not the right thread, as there's a 2011 thread for the new ROM. But your adjustment is noted...
