I hope this link works. go to #4. What a blockbuster deal that was and the rest if RBI history.
If you scroll down a bit farther to the #1 August deal, it's really RBI history, because Doyle helped the Tigers come from behind to catch the Blue Jays for the AL East title. This deal not only puts Doyle on the Tigers in RBI, but also the Tigers team instead of the Blue Jays!
Good catch edfan... If you look at the 86/87 teams, that Blue Jays squad was probably the best team not to make RBI...
I would have loved to bring Rance Mulliniks off the bench in key situations. He'd have been the Pat Sheridan of the Blue Jays!
Thank you for bringing up a name I haven't heard in a decade...
Look at that roster:

Bell, Barfield and Mosby in the OF with Cecil Fielder and McGriff (because he was the DH) on the bench. Serious power...
I believe the Ernie Whitt, Lloyd Moseby, Willie Upshaw, and Fred McGriff would all be lefty, as well. Tony Fernandez was a switch hitter, so he could be lefty, too (though with minimal power). Moseby, Upshaw and McGriff all had decent to good power.
Yeah, and the pitching staff would be very solid, too--a top lefty in Key, a top righty in Stieb, a good closer in Henke, and a sidewinder in Eichhorn!
Might be a good idea for a ROM, some of the other teams from 86-87 the same years as RBI.
