Hello, I'm MagVanisher! And I would like to ask a question.
I wonder what happened to some hacks from various Family Stadium roms, and how come there is not a single hack of them ever since Nightwulf's Famista '90?
The inability to change the team names was a dealbreaker for me. Also no juice mode for CPU play. Too bad cause the game has everything needed to be added to RBI.
Which family stadium had different stadiums? I remember one that was HUGE. I get tired as shit playing in that telephone booth on RBI.
When I saw MagVanisher...all i could think of was Vag Manager. He who is in charge of a multitude of cooters.
The famista 90 on Nightwulf's site has the different stadiums. It'd only be good for man vs. man play in my opinion, but figuring out the team names would be huge. I bet I could if it's laid out like RBI is...
Can/have any other versions be hacked? In the newer releases 2009-2011 (for the DS) one of things I liked is added defensive categories
-feilding range
-arm strength
I think famista 94 may have had that as well, with
-"Def" (Defense) = defensive ability
-"Sho" (Shoulder) = arm strength
Got an email from Japan with the proper translation for Family Stadium 87, here they are:
• G - Gaiants (Yomiuri Giants)
• M - Major Leaguers
• L - Lionels (Seibu Lions)
• C - Cars (Hiroshima Carp)
• B - Bravos (Hankyu Braves)
• D - Dorasans (Chunichi Doragons)
• F - Foods-Foods (Nippon-Ham Fighters + Lotte Orions) $B"+ (JCombined 2team. Both Owner is a Food Company.
• S - Sparrows (Yakult Swallows)
• R - Railways (Kintetsu Buffaloes + Nankai Hawks) $B"+ (J Combined 2team. Both Owner is a Railway Company.
• W - Wheels (Taiyo Whales)
• T - Titans (Hanshin Tigers)
• N - Namco Stars
Note the two teams that are combined because they were owned by the same company. You don't see that in Chicago...
Anyone have the stats handy? I'd like to figure out who the major leaguers are supposed to be.

I think they are Japanese players, not major leaguers. Dope.
Also, I'd like the OP more if his name was VagVanisher.

Given that the rest of the teams are teams of the Japanese league, I think you are wrong on that one. Unless they are some kind of an All-Star team, in which case their name probably wouldn't be "Major Leaguers".
Maybe it's the cast of "Major League"?

I think this is correct - I seem to recall Gantry translating a few of them and having guys like Canseco on the team.
I do not remember
Found a post of mine from a few years ago with a list of the phonetic translations of the players' names (http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?topic=2091.msg26817#msg26817), which I assume I pulled out of the ROM data:

My guesses:
Paketo RHB .358 40 = Puckett
Sando RHB .314 18 = Sandberg
Sutorou LHB .290 36
Kaataa RHB .286 32
Makuga RHB .300 61 = McGwire (Maris matches the stats better, but it appears to be current players)
Shiyumito RHB .320 48
Bafui RHB .320 52
Osumisu LHB .310 2 = Ozzie Smith
Kanseko RHB .270 42 = Canseco
Rifukin RHB .312 32 = Ripken
Guin LHB .360 18 = Gwynn
Matsuchin LHB .382 40
Raian = Ryan
Sukotsuto = Sutcliffe?
Baren = Bedrosian
Rigeto = Righetti
That's the best I can come up with so far... if anyone else can contribute, please do.
Kaataa is probably gary carter
Maybe Jesse Barfield for Bafui?
Shiyumito is Mike Schmidt
Matsuchin = Mattingly?
Good call, could be. In fact, everyone on the Major Leaguers was in RBI so far. Maybe Baifu is Bell, that's horrible but so is Barfield.
I think it's weird that all those players appear to have inflated stats - Puckett never hit 40 homers in a season (and never batted .358, although he hit .356 once); McGwire didn't hit more than 60 until years later.
Maybe they made the rosters like halfway through the MLB season and simply doubled them. McGwire and Bell both had huge #s in 1987 right? Weird to have no Dawson though...

That appears to be what they did in the arcade version of RBI - McGwire, Canseco, and Dawson all have different HR numbers than their actual '87 stats.
