Is that really Beales's site? I don't think it is, rules on that site are for 1 SP play
Nope, rbibaseball.us is my site...
I fixed it to link to Beales site.
With any luck Nate and I will get the dang show recorded on Thursday and posted over the weekend. We've had a helluva time getting together to record it.
Finally got the show recorded. Doing editing tonight and tomorrow. Should have it released in the next 24-36 hours.
For the sports segment, we interviewed former Iowa State safety Chris Brown. We really dug into some of his recruitment(2004 class) to find out why he came to Iowa State when he also had an offer on the table from Oklahoma State. OSU was coming off a 9-4 season and Les Miles was getting that program turned around at the time. Brown had some really interesting thoughts that went into his decision to come to ISU.
Chris also had some really interesting takes on Gene Chizik and his time at Iowa State...Chris played his junior and senior year under Chizik.
Really good show this month. Very interesting to hear a long form interview with a guy about his journey from high school football through the recruiting process and eventually working his way up from the practice squad to being a starter in college.

When I get around to it, I'll put something together for the Detroit bats.
TBT crushing it, why can't you people be more like TBT?
You guys were way too generous to AL's bench, they suck hard outside of McGwire
It's good to find out that there are other people holding tournaments for this classic.
Welcome ShnerdSF! If you plan on sticking around definitely fill out the Dee-Nee Census (http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?topic=4077.0) so we can judge you get to know you a little better. Wait, that sounded creepy...

I don't even remember what I said about the bench in the podcast. I think Nate gave them some props for having some speed.
I don't mind the AL bench too much because they can continually sub in for the 8 spot. Yeah, they suck but they can serve a purpose.
With MLB's opening day tomorrow, I got asked to come on podcast at http://www.8bitx.com/ (http://www.8bitx.com/) and talk some RBI, along with some other baseball games. Doing the interview tonight, and apparently it will roll out live tomorrow, and also in podcast as well.
Will(The host) wants to cover the site, RBI, and also discuss a few other NES baseball games. Ive played most of the top titles...BB Stars, Bases Loaded, Tecmo Baseball, and Baseball simulator. Might even mention some atrocious games such as NES baseball and MLB by LJN as well.
During an email exchange, Rick Tittle who is a sports radio persona out in Oakland asked me to come onto his sunday night gaming show as well. Haven't got any confirmation on when that might be, but looking forward to doing that show as well.
You gotta give RBI 3 some burn. Oakland with Rickey, Canseco, Mac, Baines, Stew, Welch and Eck. Might be the best team in the damn series. Should remake this like the did with Baseball Stars 2.

Gantry Zettler...always taking the sword for his disciples. Will was awesome. Listening right now to the live feed of the show. He'll have the podcast up in a day or teo, and post a link.
Will has invited me to join in the network of gaming podcasts they have. What an awesome opportunity to team up with other related sites.
8 bit X has a opening day page up here. http://8bitx.com/openingday/2012/ (http://8bitx.com/openingday/2012/) Nice work there on incorporating all the images from the different baseball games.
Definitely link to the podcast when it's done, I knew you were the right man for the job. You get all the credit for keeping the RBI banner going the last couple years buddy, the title of RBI Website Guy is now yours.
Latest podcast loaded onto Itunes. Nate and I run through a mock royal rumble competition in RBI. We randomly pull out team names, and then discuss the match-ups, and pick a winner. We got through all 10 teams, and cover all the interesting twists and turns as it unfolds. Granted it was just a discussion about what could happen, but it got us stoked to finally play some royal rumbles. Afterwards, we talk some RBI and Tecmo villains.

The show was posted below..... One of my downfalls is the lack of general excitement in my interview here. Regardless of that, it was great to get out and talk some RBI on the airwaves. TBT, why so serious?

On a side note, apparently we have 58 subscribers via Itunes. Slowly moving on up...
Got a weekly TecmoBowl-vs-R.B.I. podcast airing on the 8 Bit X radio network. Our new format calls for about 30 minute long shows. Can be heard on saturday July 7th at I believe at 7pm CST right here. http://www.8bitx.com/ (http://www.8bitx.com/)
Our episode this weekend breaks down all that is awesome with Tecmo Bowl's Chicago bears.
After that show, we also have a new podcast called "the retro sports game review" thats getting aired. In our 1st show we take a humorous look at 3 NES wrestling games. Pro wrestling, tag team wrestling and Tecmo world championship wrestling. We sat down for a couple hours and played the games, then broke down the good, the bad, and the absurd. This was some of our best work by the time the show was over.
The retro sports game review airs once a month, and we'll take a stab at 2 or 3 games each show. Probably doing something like bases loaded, tecmo baseball, and perhaps LJN's MLB(horrible game) next month. Trying to have a good, mediocre and bad game in each episode.
To make Tecmo-vs-RBI work weekly we will have to increase our podcast load a little, but I'll rehash some old segments into new shows. The good thing is that a lot of the material can be recycled and stays current.
Nate is in Omaha this weekend. Tecmo bowl plyoffs on saturday and a podcast about that will air on 8 bit X on July 14th.
Also taking suggestions on any discussions/segments you may want to hear. Going weekly now will require us to get us more creative in our delivery of topics. On a monthly basis a good topic eventually falls from the sky. Weekly basis...things need to move faster.
Tag Team wrestling is so fkn bad

Tag Team wrestling is so fkn bad
Yeah it was horrible, but really made it fun to rip on it. That fkn game really set the tone for the show.
Probably already recorded but MUSCLE wrestling is also awful, completely awful.
Other non-TB/RBI ideas that could make for good podcasts:
- Beat-'em-ups: Double Dragon (actually, you could probably do a whole podcast on that series), River City Ransom (easily the jewel of the genre on the NES), Mighty Final Fight, Battletoads (and their Double Dragon crossover), TMNT 2-3... the genre actually might be too crowded for a half-hour show.
- Mega Man boss power rankings: I always hated fighting Quick Man the most, although I would point out that I've played very little of 1, 4, and 6, so I don't have a great handle on their boss difficulty. Metal Man was the easiest, especially the second time around when you could one-shot him with his own weapon.
- Black sheep sequels: Castlevania, Legend of Zelda, and Super Mario all had sequels that were very much unlike the rest of their series. What about those games is better or worse than the rest of the series? For what it's worth, Zelda 2 was one of our original NES games, so I've always liked it, and I liked the RPG elements of Castlevania 2 as well.
- Late-era NES games: Quality games like Mighty Final Fight, Kirby's Adventure, and Battletoads & Double Dragon are often ignored because they came out after the Super NES had already mostly taken over. NES games were released as late as 1994, and there were some excellent games in the '92-'94 era that don't get the attention of the earlier games.
- Other baseball games: Easily the best overall sport on the NES - the RBI series, Baseball Stars (note: I never played Baseball Stars 2), Baseball Simulator 1.000, Little League Baseball, and (arguably) Bases Loaded 3 were all excellent games. Even stuff like Roger Clemens Baseball, Bo Jackson Baseball, the first couple Bases Loaded games, and BaseWars had their moments - Clemens had the ability to avoid tags; Bases Loaded had ejections; Bo Jackson had selectable pitch types; BaseWars had killing your opponents. Granted, baseball is probably easier to simulate than other team sports, since fewer players move at once, but it's interesting that there were so many more quality options than football (basically just the Tecmo Bowl series, with Touchdown Fever or Elway if you were desperate for something different) or basketball (Tecmo NBA was the only decent 5-on-5 game). I suppose the fact that baseball is played in Japan while the others aren't was also a big part of this.
You can use me for a call-in segment on bad news baseball. It's a very good late NES game with individual player attributes, even an entire secret league of girls.

This could be the setup for a movie on either the Disney Channel or Cinemax.
maybe like a D.E.B.S. scenario...

It is a good game...I wasn't a fan of some of the graphics though...I think someone had rabbit ears or something...the umps, maybe. Still, a decent game...
umpires are rabbits. only drawbacks to the game are the cutaways at close plays on the bases and the computer pitchers tip their pitches for direction.
Every now and then I get pulled into BSTARS for the defensive stuff and the season mode, but I always come back to my 8-bit fatties.
I should have a really nice ROM rated at the end of the 2012 season, complete with a new hitter profile: The Weak Power High Average Hitter. It'll also have the switch hitter hack.
I'm excited for the season to be over on the level that it puts me out of my Brewers misery and brings me closer to getting a 2012 ROM out the door. On the other hand, I love even non-Brewer baseball, so it'll be bittersweet.
10 Days til the 6th annual RBI Baseball World Series in South Jersey!!
Might as well unsticky this one as well
