Title: R.B.I tournament in Las Vegas
Post by: BIGMANBIGS on 02/27/12, 07:49:46 PM
A group of us still get together and play on a weekly basis here in Vegas. We are looking to set up a tournament sometime in October of 2012. I understand it is tough times but I'm able to help people with cheap hotel rooms. Also trying to get some bar owners I know to help sponsor it. I have read a few things online about people getting together for tournaments, what better place to hold a tournament then Vegas. Any info on current tournaments or anybody interested let me know...peace

Never been to Vegas. That sounds like a blast...and in other years, I'm sure I could swing it easily.  Kid Turd #3 is due in March and I'm going to Pittsburgh to see PNC park this year, so another trip might not work.  Good luck with it though, I bet it'd be a blast.

They tried to do a tourney for Tecmo in Vegas a few years back, but I don't think it ever panned out...

Congrats on #3 bro, I have a 7 yr old who loves R.B.I and he is enough for me. PNC looks like a awesome yard, should be good times. Hopefully this is the 1st of many tournaments and you can plan for a Vegas trip in 2013!!!

Gantry,

We have 6 that play on a weekly basis but I know of at least 15 more friends just here in Vegas that would love a tournament. Also a new arcade in town just had a Tecmo tourny and I'm sure when I get the word out we could have a 35 to 40 team bracket. I know several bar owners that I can bring this to and hopefully hold the tourny at one of the taverns. Between myself and friends of mine we could set up several 50 inch flat screens, we have plenty of Nintendos also. Love to get the ball rolling and start a monster R.B.I classic here in V-Town. Thanks for the response you guys, look forward to talking to you soon...peace

I think if I go to Vegas it wouldn't be to play RBI, don't get me wrong I love RBI but Vegas has so much else to offer right?

Nobody said you have to play R.B.I 24 hrs a day bro, plenty of time to hit the video poker. We would set the tournament up so that everybody would have more then enough time to abuse the strip clubs and hotels.

I would consider driving up for this IF you can ensure that I win.

Is brookensrules chiding someone for being uncool?

Being born and raised in this whore of a city I'm far from uncool. I have worked at several casinos and most people that visit can't seem to stay away from the video poker. I guess it's kinda funny, we are on a R.B.I forum but I'm being told I'm uncool....hmmm

Are you comparing video poker to RBI?

Having to explain that you're cool makes you pretty uncool.

Never said I was cool buddy, just said I grew up in a whore of a city and that I'm not a tool. Having to explain this to you is uncool. We have played R.B.I since high school and college and obviously people still enjoy it. Now a post that started out as something harmless has people like yourself chiming in with nonsense. Thanks for your imput meat, I will be sure to never acknowledge you again.

Once again several of us are trying to get some sort of tournament going. When we have a bar commit to sponsor it I will post more info. At that point if enough people commit I will see what kind of deals on hotel rooms I can get. I have a few friends at Mandalay Bay and South Point Casino that will help out.

If it is a fruitless effort then no harm done and we will continue to have a few beers and play when we have time. We have a new bar in town called Insert Coins and between the Tecmo Bowl tourny they held and all the talk about vintage games I thought this might be a good idea....peace

Bigmanbigs, it's common for these guys to razz the new fish here.  Don't let it sway you from hanging around this joint.

For the record, the original post was more of a rip on brookensrules than on you, if you reread it you'll see. Plus, Brookensrules is afraid of bumpy roads.

Sorry Brookens, I only met you once and I rarely hang out in "anything goes." It's all the material I have to work with.

If you go into anything goes, you'll find much, much more material with which to make fun of him.  That makes it doubly sad that he's trying to pick on a new poster.

Don't listen to Strassy, I was making fun of video poker, not a new guy.  Strassy can't read.  Let me know when the Interstate to Milwaukee is smoother and I'll come play RBI again Turd.

I think a tourney in Vegas would be awesome.  Please keep the forum updated on any news.

Seems like a RBI Tournament would be a good cover for me to murder strangers from the internet.  Count me in.
