Title: Atari Player Ranks Page
Post by: GPines on 10/07/02, 02:15:21 PM
I have finally been able to rank the Atari Players, it is not an easy thing to rank, there are so many good players on the Arcade version, but this is what we came up with!

Gantry what do you think about the rankings, we are still working on them ,they are tough to rank, after playing some more arcade games since the rankings we have seen some more changes that need to be made.

For example the Babe is not number 2

Piner:

I don't give the arcade version nearly as much as the NES, but here's my top 10:

1 - Mickey Mantle
2 - Roger Maris
3 - Mark McGwire
4 - George Foster
5 - Joe Adcock
6 - Willie Mays
7 - Babe Ruth
8 - Johnny Bench
9 - Ted Williams
X - Willie McCovey

Very tough to do, so take them with a grain of salt.  I hardly play with or against Chicago, LA, Houston or STL.  And I've only had about 6 curves games in Arcade.  Other IMHO quickies:

No way Dimmagio is better than Foster
Johnny Mize should be higher
Al Dark is 10 spots higher
Manny Mota gets the basement

And here's the actual link:

Very true Dimaggio is not better than foster, actually we have been keeping stats lately for homers and pitching wins and losses so we might be able to rank them better. Foster has been tearing it up lately and Bench. Kingman is leading with 8 jacks though he has played the most games: I haven't updated yet with the new stats, but here's the link:

I will take note of your top 10 and re-avergae it with ours after we change it again.

Have you tried the strike play method, that's all we play now, it combines the 2 styles. It's Great!

Foster and Bench are two absolute studs.  The key with Foster is to yell "Beer!" in that cheezy Australian accent a la the commercials...

My friend Nick (who is the only person who plays Chi) doens't put Kingman in half the time, the fool...

Haven't tried the strike only method, but it sounds quite fun...

Strike method must be a strike you can cuvre the ball wherever, but if you throw a ball the next pitch must be right down the middle(medium speed). If you throw a ball off the plate and they chase it no penalty, only if they let it go.

It's curve style, but then you an pick your moments to take a pitch and hopefully earn yourself a cockshot.
