Title: RBI online
Post by: sucka free on 10/08/02, 03:04:40 PM
This is the first time I have seen the site, and I must say that I laughed my ass off.  RBI and tecmo super bowl are still played religiously. I have two questions...can RBI be played on line?  Are outsiders allowed to play in the tournament?

I've been playing RBI for years with some of my old friends.  We found this sight along with some others and couldn't believe our eyes.  Thanks for the memories and it's nice to know were not the only ones out there crazy enough to still be playing this game....especially with all the baseball games that are out today.  Were from the Chicago suburbs and would be interested in participating in any tournaments.  Someone should consider setting up a RBI booth and tournament at the next Midwest Classic gaming expo.
Question - I tried to download the Atari RBI rom (rbibb.zip) but got a grey screen.  Does anyone know where I can get
a clean version of this classic standup?

Question - Does anyone know where I can get NES RBI hacked games?.....It would be nice if someone could recode the original to make the computer a little more intelligent.

Thanks again!! ;)

Jason

I know that tecmo  bowl can be played over the internet, but can RBI?

There was a drive to get an Online RBI League started, but it petered out due to lack of interest.  The guy heading the movement emailed me awhile back, and perhaps we can get it going again....

And Jason - the rbibb.zip file does in fact work.  Try using the steps on my FAQ page:

http://dee-nee.com/rbi/faq.shtml#CPUARCADE (http://dee-nee.com/rbi/faq.shtml#CPUARCADE)

If it still doesn't work, let me know...

Gantry.....Thanks....it does work.  What does Reggie Jackson level 6 "stars" mean under your Reply name?

RBI online would be great :D......I would be more than happy to help out in any way possible.  This type of "network play" would get more people involved in "online" RBI tournaments as well.  With a 32 man tournament coming up in Illinois(Chicago/December).....an online presence would probably generate over 100 participants easy if not more over time.

Great idea!

The stars and player level are based on how many posts you make.  You should sign up for a username, as it is free and the software will keep track of your posts/levels/etc...

Perhaps after the tourney I'll see if I can work towards getting an online RBI league up and running.  I barely play RBI as it is, so lets go with one task at a time...

I am ALL about playing RBI online, i would play it non stop all night instead of doing school work...and it'd be worth it. Is it playable online by nesticle or anything like that? I'd be all about supporting a league or anything...keep this alive!! You'd be my heroes!! :)

My cousin and i have a long lasting rivalry since the age of like 6 in RBI...and the rivalry still exists...but he lives in baltimore and i live in pittsburgh...help keep our rivalry alive so I can keep winning as usual!

It is clear that we have enough people to organize an online league for RBI, so I will get one setup in the near future.  I will have to research the various emulators to find the best way to get it going, but it really shouldn't be too tough....

RBI network play works!!

if you download the emulator fceu, it supports network play

i tested rbi on it over our network between my computer and my dad's computer

i tested it over the internet with my cousin george to his 56k, it worked...but his 56k bit the dust, it couldn't keep up with the game.

Anyone out there wanna try it over the internet who has a cable model or dsl? e-mail me gee@yifan.net and we'll set up a game time ;)

or Benzie500E on aim

Do you think it would be frowned upon if I set it up at work?

Good to hear it works under FCE Ultra, as that is my preferred emulator.  Test those games out people!!

If interested in playing RBI online, join the RBIOL.  Just starting now in December of '02 for those with high speed connections.  Visit http://www.geocities.com/rbionlinebaseball and visit the message board to express interest....or you can email me at rbionlinebaseball@yahoo.com

I will be serving as Commissioner and only require game films from league games....I will take care of the stats and standings.
