Title: West Coast RBI Classic: Date TBD (Spring 2013)
Post by: fightonusc on 11/19/12, 12:57:25 PM
I got the OK from the wife to start planning this for a location in Los Angeles in spring 2013 (Probably February or March, depending on the logistics). I have a few leads on bars that would be willing to host a weekend afternoon/early evening event, with enough TVs to make it feasible. I'd like to get 16 players with a $20 entry fee with the following payout:

1st: $160
2nd: $96
3rd:  $64

I'm thinking if I can get 16 people together, we do four pools of four players each. Top two from each pool go onto a knockout round.

You wouldn't get there on time anyway. LA traffic and all.

How many local folks do you think can sign up?   Low entry fee is key, the $100 for the COTUT turned people off who don't take it as seriously...

I think setting the goal at 16 people would be fair. I know there are at least a few Dee-Neers who are local or could make the drive out fairly easily. With a little social media promotion, I don't think it's out of the question.

Wasn't someone's kid brother still playing RBI Baseball while he was going to college around here recently? GPines? And whatever happened to the SF RBI crew?

i would love to come but spring is super busy for me.

BUT, once the date is set I will do my best to make it.  I could try to tie it in to work someone and maybe swing it

Good luck, I hope it is a success, RBI needs shit like this.  Gantry, I may have signed up for this in the past but the $100 kept me away.  I'd pay maybe $20.  How much is the Tecmo tournament that is coming up in Madison in early 2013?

It will be pretty tough for me not to make it out.  Anny is March 10th so, you know, plan it all around me.

The last I knew about gpines was that he's teaching high school in north orange county. I have no idea about his little bro. They also had a friend they competed against who posted but I think they said he disappeared years ago. Was it tonygwynnisfat?

Don't forget, you've got slims out there, broiler travels well.  Ill have to see once a date is set, but typically I go to spring training one weekend in March.
