Choose 4 teams you feel have the worst batting line-ups.
This is in the context of 1 starting pitcher play(best of 3 or 5 series), including the bench players inserted into the line-up.
Feel free to list your bottom 4 as well in a post.
I'm starting to look into ranking the line-ups on the site and curious about some outside opinions.
To me Houston, St. Louis and New York are no brainers in the bottom 4. For the last one I'm going with Minnesota - they have a god awful bench and zero lefty power after Hrbek.
Unanimous so far - everyone's chosen those four, including me. The Twins have a good middle of the order (although Puckett is one of those guys whose ratings are way worse than his stats), but they're hamstrung by a weak bottom of the order and the worst bench in the game, by far.
St. Louis is my favorite team to use because of their speed, but the lack of home run power is pretty damaging in high level play.
In order, Houston, StL, New York, and MN.
Houston: I don't think anyone can argue with this. I can usually put together an ok lineup with them, but they fail in comparison with the big boppers. They are lucky they have great pitching.
STL: Not much better than Houston, but they do have some speed which pushes them to #2.
NY: You essentially have to drain the bench to make this lineup palletable (although their 3-4-5 is solid). I don't like having two low power fast guys back-to-back in the top of the order. Many other teams have at least some scare up there.
MN: In my mind, I usually consider them to be equal to San Fran. However, when I compare head to head, MN is worse in every category; average starters, average bench, worst bench player, worst starting player, best bench player, and best starter. Plus, I hate Pucket so may be a little biased. Despite my hate for him, he is a lackluster 3-hitter for this game and I tend to ground into a lot of dps with him.
OK, who voted for SF? Please defend that choice.
My 4th came down to SF & Minnesota, though I went for the latter. Isn't too outrageous imo
SF's bench is much, much better than Minnesota's.
It's better, but SF bench is quite the shitshow as well. Bunch of "meh" guys...
I voted SF. Id rather be MN than San Fran.
I NEVER score with them. But really its NY and Houston and then everyone else.
So you'd take Stl's lineup over the Mets? Intersting...
MN has good power.
Is it awe-inspiring?
