Title: Family Staduim '90 Editor
Post by: MRRBI on 05/15/13, 10:51:22 PM
http://nightwulf.rbicentral.com/fs90-editor/ (http://nightwulf.rbicentral.com/fs90-editor/)

Nightwulf this editor seems to be out of commission. I was wondering if you could get this back up and running? I'm really enjoying the Family Stadium roms. If not that is fine. I figure I'd ask since I notice it was still there.

Thanks

As I said I'm looking into getting this hacked and getting an editor made. Actually being able to edit team names and logo colors.

I get a little excited when playing these roms and remembered that Nightwulf had something back in the day for 1990 rom so I went and checked it out. Have you played the 1994 version? Namco made the computer competitive that is what I notice.

Apparently in 1990's, if you do a season, you can increase the difficulty of the CPU from A1 all the way to B9.  Not sure what it does yet, but I'm having it looked into...

That's interesting... Have you played with the difficulty settings changed to see if it seems to change anything?

RBI 2&3 had "easy" and "hard" difficulty, but I didn't find "hard" all that much worse, and it's been long enough that I can't remember what was different.  I think their fielders took better routes, maybe (grounders up the middle weren't as often misplayed into triples), but I don't know whether it juiced their hitting or anything.

When you get time try it out. Very competitive and makes for a more enjoyable experience. I will have to try increasing the difficulty to see the difference.

Yes the Family Stadium versions have different Stadium. One looks like Fenway Park and another looks like Wrigley Field.

Well since Nightwulfs Family Staduim '90 Editor is no longer working we will have to wait for Turd to find some time to get it done. He post in this thread actually.

Yeah, I'm working with someone to try and get the deets to write an editor...it won't be expanded to 30 teams, but it'll have 14, so you can do an AL and an NL ROM...stay tuned...

I'm guessing this is because of the server switch...

So its safe to assume the dimensions are different on these different stadiums.  Is that FS 1990?  I may have to download that play it on the game cube.

Getting the regular RBI player ratings on that version would be awesome.

Yes FS 1990 is correct.

Yeah, the only trick after getting the game hacked would be to translate FS' power ratings from RBI's, where RBI's are in the 800s, FS is in the 200s...

I have a buch of the data locations along with a converter from RBI power to FS power...might be able to transfer original ROM data to FS ROM and play in stadiums!

I'm back from my vacation and looking forward to being able to play this rom and editing teams/names. I know I'm probably asking for to much, but what are the chances for extractor for this rom?

Tile editing question.  It seems that FS stores data for player names in a different tile set than it uses for the Scoreboard/News (see attached "RBI_Tile1").  If I use this data set, Player Names are correct, Scoreboard initials are correct.

What ISN'T correct is the news summary that shows at the end of the game (see attached RBI_Tile1a").  Although Pettis ("Petti" in the game) hit a home run, in the summary it garbles his name as "SeVQV".  This is pulling data from the "Scoreboard" tile set - not the "Player" tile set.  If I switch them, the News screen is correct and the Player names are all garbled.

Any help resolving this would be appreciated.

Also, on the News screen there is a weird section (highlighted).  It looks like (1AB] - SB2BO).  It shows up in the non-edited FS90.nes rom as well.  Anyone have any idea what this is SUPPOSED to be?  If I knew, I could fix it.

It's getting there.  The (Wal-Mart) Greeter has been working hard on stuff, and has sent me a ROM with some data on it...I just need to try it out and help out with the pitch speeds, and possibly spend a night or two redrawing logos (procrastinating big time on that).

Then, we'll have a playable ROM with upload capability to the RBI site...then last task is to write an editor (probably web-based)...

I just provided homie with the pitch speed conversion chart...getting closer.

Still need to find out what the hell that juicing does, and if we can put our own juicing in place.  Also remaining is re-drawing the logos.  I need to get up the ambition to do that though as it's quite a pain in the ass.

Some days I get a lot done, some none.  Today I accomplished a little:  I made it say "BALLFOUR" instead of "FOURBALL" when you get a walk.  Grin.

I need to figure out where in the code it calculates Home Run distances.  It annoys me to hit a Home Run and have it report the distance in meters.  The pitch speed shows in mph (not kph), so it should be feet not meters.

Play testing a lot of fun stuff.  Uniform colors, good.  Pitch/run speed, good.  Lineups almost set (need to add a couple of teams).  Need  to expand the pitching roster on each to show 4 starting pitchers for each team, so I'll need some good data for that.

But yeah, it's moving forward.  SLOWLY.  Grin.
