Good Monday morning, fellow RBIers. New to the forum so just saying hi. Looking for friendly games of rbi on nes and maybe a tourney down the line.
Searching around on the forum I see a few tourneys have happened in the area but it doesn't seem like there's been anything recently. I think one of the bars in Burbank or North Hollywood would be a good spot. I'll even buy the first pitcher... Of beer!
Welcome bassfunk! Forum member fightonusc was looking to start a SoCal RBI night just recently, not sure if he made any headway. Fighton?
I saw he ran a tourney a few years ago. I will definitely contact him. The SoCal RBI night is a great idea!
I saw your FB message but yesterday was crazy busy (as referenced in the AG posts). The thing I ran a few years ago was a mini-tourney at my house. I know that Broiler and TBG were there along with a few other random people from Facebook. I'd like to run a slightly larger tournament at a bar, similar to the COTUT or Columbus. I think we'd get a minimum of 12 people pretty easily. It really is just on me to contact a few places and try to get them to give us some TV space to use.
Champs isn't a bad idea - I play darts there with a group quite a bit - but I know their TVs are mounted pretty high and might make it tough to see. The Draft might be a better choice - my kickball league uses it as their league bar so I know some of the staff - especially if we can use the TVs mounted on the booths.
But I'd also be down with less organized RBI nights if we can do that as well.
Ah, you're right about Champs. Those TVs are way too high. The Draft seems very cool! How about The Park in Burbank? Last time I was there they had a TV sitting on the back counter, if I remember correctly. Could be an option.
Either way, count me in!!
We'll probably need three or four TVs to have pools going at the same time and not have the thing last for eight hours.
I've struggled to get RBI related things going. I'm considering a retro NES decathlon here in Omaha, where we just get a bunch of guys and they play random opponents in RBI, Tecmo, Ice hockey, double dribble, etc, etc. Blaze through all the game and see who is the best overall at a bunch of different NES sports games.
It's not the easiest thing to organize, and understandably so. But the payoff is worth it. It sure is alot of fun!

Let me know I would make it there 100%.
