Title: Super batter up
Post by: ryno on 06/30/13, 12:08:52 PM
With the arrival of Strassy snes, I've been playing the RBI similar, super batter up. Easily my favorite snes game.

I played a ton of back In the day, but never recall hitting a homer with the pitcher until today.

Maddux took one over the left field wall.

Does that have real players built-in, or did you have to go through and rename them, like in Griffey?

Real players.  Good computer AI. Wrigley, Busch, and skydome for stadiums.

I like it because it is 1991 stats.  Very good year.

It plays very much like RBI 3, I'm not sure why it isn't called RBI 4 and that goofy too-zoomed-in game that gets called RBI 4 could be something else.

1991 would be a good year.  I'm always partial to '90, since I played a ton of RBI 3, and 1991 was the year I collected the most baseball cards (so I know the '90 players pretty well), but 1991 would have the Twins as non-shitty, which is nice (although it was always cool that thanks the '90 stats, Sandberg was basically the best player in RBI 3).

Sandberg is pretty salty with a 291 avg and 26 bombs.  1991 cubs are good at the offense. Terrible at the pitching.

It's a lot harder to square the ball up on this game than most others.

I haven't played a game with '91 stats before.  I got a TON of mileage out of the '90 Cubs in RBI 3, and they're really good - Sandberg is a beast; Dawson has good speed and very good power; Dunston is just another step behind Dawson in power, also with good speed; guys like Grace and Hector Villanueva are occasional home run threats; some of the weak guys like Jerome Walton and Doug Dascenzo at least have good speed.

It'd be really cool to transfer the graphics from rbi 1 to 3.
