Title: Heaven v. Hell ROM
Post by: KJWalters on 08/02/13, 07:28:05 AM
Being it's the first day/first post of mine on this god awesome forum, I'm probably at Spike Owen status....
I recently played the heaven v. hell ROM. I played as St. Louis-I like my (naturally) fast base runners. I've never lost to the computer before-but this was ridiculous. Could only pitch to their pitcher-meaning they didn't use Nightwulf's RBI editor to give the pitchers better bats. Had 20 some strike outs because that's the only way to win....fun idea though

I've got a Raspberry Pi and have RetroPie up and running.  I'm going to attempt to set my controllers up tonight.  Wiimotes with the attached controllers if I can get it to work...   Otherwise, the trusty logitech game pad will be used.

With that said, its time to update this Heaven vs Hell ROM for use on this thing.  Please provide feedback on updates to the rosters.  I'm sure there are some new dead folks that deserve considerations.

In regards to dead RBIers, I'm debating leaving them on their respective teams if they were a non-allstar and upping their attributes OR deciding their fate via this board as to which All star team they play for.

Gwynn is obivously a Heaven guy...  Puckett's sexual assault thing would drop on Hell I guess.  Unless I just leave him on Mn as a bonus big bat...

Please provide any suggestions.  Wikipedia links or something with any nominations for either All-star team would be appreciated

Originally used RBIManager.  It didn't install when I attempted last night.  32 bit something or other error message.  I didn't look into it at all.  Will probably use Nightwulf's editor (online right?) for this version.

Gary Carter
Tony Gwynn
Donnie Moore
Kirby Puckett
Dave Smith
Jose Uribe

Okay here we go.  Donnie Moore's suicide and Pucketts issues push them to Hell.

Posting in this thread too now that I found it.

I just went in and fixed up the Heaven Vs Hell ROM.  Added the dead RBIers.  Puckett and Donnie Moore slot into their roles on the Hell squad.  The rest gain access to Heaven since a quick wikipedia scan showed no reason for Hell.

Pitchers can now MASH - no more freebie outs.

Attached the fixed version here.  Need it to replace the current version on dee-nee's alternate league ROM section.  Gantry - can you assist?

Has anyone ever beat Heaven or Hell?

Tried to upload the new ROM but it's zero bytes.  Something didn't take with the generating of the ROM or the upload.

Also - If anyone has any suggestions on changes to the Heaven or Hell team post here or PM me.

I'm going to be turning off the mercy rule for a version of the game and pit Heaven vs Hell in a 7 game series.  Thinking about posting it on YouTube.  Maybe streaming Game 7 live if it goes that far.

Wow...  Just ran a highly sped up test run of this game.  Heaven on the road versus Hell.  It was 14 to 8 Hell after one inning.  Couldn't watch all of it as I'm at work, but the end of the game was a liner back to the pitcher with runners on on 2nd and 3rd.

The final box score doesn't show anything correctly.  I went max speed in the emulator I'm using.  All I know is that Heaven won even though the final score showed 28 to 27 I assume that means 128 to 127?  70 HRs, 26 triples, 30 doubles.

This is going to be a FUUUUUNN series to put together.

2nd test run.  11 minute first inning.  4 minute second inning.  Satan just didn't bring it today.

Although, he was still bringing 120 MPH cheese, curving it and sinking it into the dirt after all that.

Working on uploading the videos to youtube to see how they turn out.

Any suggestions from the Fantasy RBI guys, please chime in.

Innings 3 through 9 took almost an hour and a half.

Hell came back from down 89-34 after 5.

Hitler grounds out to the pitcher to end the game with the tying run on 3rd!

First upload on youtube!  1 hour 40 minutes...  Sorry, I'll double the speed of the initial recording later allowing for both 4x speed playback and slowing to normal speed.

Adjustments may be made... Jesus is sitting at the right hand of the Father though.  Makes more sense to bring it lefty.

Its fluid right now.  Didn't specifically mean lineup changes, but I may have my ordained brother take a peak at the lineups to suggest some better theological names before the real series gets run.

Also thinking about having broadcast teams to announce the games.  Could probably recruit my brothers to do a couple while Living the High Life.  Might have my twin toddlers on the mic for a game.  But at 90+ minutes for a game, they might just be guests for an inning.

If I can change the color of the field for each teams home games that is getting done, too.

The sound effects of the moonshot homers are eerily soothing.

If you sit fastball against Heaven or Hell and swing super early, you can actually get a hit swinging a second time if they throw a squiggle pitch that doesn't sink.  Vince Coleman and Ozzie Smith did it back to back at bats for me last night.

The regular speed pitch became the most devastating pitch against me last night.  I was down 2-0 after 4 innings and turned it off.  I'm out of practice big time.
