Working on one now. Got the 62 Mets, 03 Tigers, 04 Diamondbacks, and 69 Expos done thus far.
Who else is on the list? '98 Marlins might be a good pick - I think they were pretty terrible that year, when they gutted the team after winning the World Series. Seems like there should be Royals, Devil Rays, and Pirates teams in there somewhere, but I don't know specific years when they were worse than others. The post-'92 Twins were awful for close to a decade, but they never managed to lose 100 games and thus probably weren't awful enough for this ROM.
Its always better to play with the worst-makes the jokes better too...
Picking teams where a guy didn't top 20 homers is a good way to search. Especially for RBI purposes.
What about that Phillies team when Steve Carlton won the Cy Young? He won something crazy like 1/3rd of their games, plus you'd have a badass starting pitcher. Like Houston in RBI
Great idea for a ROM Mr. Strass
I picked the ten worst teams since 62 by record. No repeat teams (there's lots of terrible Mets teams)
The others are going to be:
69 Padres
79 A's
79 Bluejays
88 Braves
88 Orioles
98 Marlins

The 04 Dbacks are like this with the Big Unit.
This ROM is going to be fun for me. So many terrible players. I also noted that most of these teams finished last in the league in defense, so their error rates are mostly set to 12.
Done! Any feedback is welcome. The pitchers were just kind of thrown together.

yes, but i figured that deadball era teams would be tough to do, and the expansion era seemed like a good time to start.
This is good work. Pretty cool idea.
Thanks!
I did the Mets first, and I think they might be too good relative to the other teams. Thoughts, anyone?
I saw some sweet stats while doing this. In 1988, Jerry Royster has 110 at bats for the Braves, and 1 RBI. That's pretty fkn incredible.
Just tried playing a couple of games on emulator vs the computer and something weird is happening. Every time a pitcher comes up, if he hits the ball foul, the screen glitches, but then returns to the mound. If it hits the ball fair, it's always right to the catcher and the pitcher does not begin running towards first. I don't know if it's the emulator or the ROM, but I'm trying it now in two player mode.
UPDATE: Happens in two player mode as well. has anyone ever seen this before?
Their hitting data is screwed up - they have 0 power/contact/speed ratings instead of the defaults (64/640/118).

Picking teams where a guy didn't top 20 homers is a good way to search. Especially for RBI purposes.
The '90 Cardinals are BRUTAL in RBI 3 - their leader in home runs that year was Todd Ziele, with 15, and he leads the team in power rating with 795. They have three 140-speed guys (McGee, Ozzie, and Milt Thompson), and Coleman has 155, but I don't know if any amount of speed makes up for that little power.
This year's Twins will also lack a 20-homer guy, unless Brian Dozier has a really good last week of the season - he leads the team with 17. The team just didn't have much for power threats, and the few they had (mostly Justin Morneau and Josh Willingham) were injured or ineffective most of the year.

Good observation. I think I'm going to enter pitcher hitting data and bump their power to whatever the lowest power eating amongst position players is. All pitchers will be the same unless I find out that one was a particularly good hitter.
Awesome idea. If you are doing any tweaking of rosters, I'm remove Solita and Stieb from the Jays and add Dave McKay and Dave Lemanczyk. If I recall correctly Lemanczyk was the Jays representative at the All Star game that year even and Stieb was just starting out.
Alfredo Griffin should be faster
