Title: Catcher positioning in RBI
Post by: Gantry on 03/03/15, 07:40:10 PM
Got this email, I honestly can't say that I've noticed.  Thoughts?

QuoteWhen I'm playing the computer and I'm batting, the catcher often moves to the left or the right before the pitch is thrown.  Is there any discernible pattern to where he positions himself that could indicate where the pitch might be thrown or what pitch will be thrown?  I don't think there is, because it seems pretty random.  Sometimes he'll move to the right and the pitch will be to the left, and sometimes the pitch is thrown at or near where he is positioned.  But, I thought I'd ask you since you probably know the game as good or better than anyone.  Thanks for your help!

No, I think the catcher is dumb and randomly moves inside and outside no matter where the pitch is going.

I've never noticed a pattern in RBI. However, as the resident Bad News Baseball expert: that game DOES tip the pitches with catcher position during the pitch. Not sure what happens in two player mode, but during a CPU game the catcher does move and reveals pitch location.

I've never paid any attention to the catcher.  This is a good question.

I had a vague recollection of someone asking about this years ago, but I don't recall coming up with any theories or anything.

The catcher moves and tips the pitch.
