I'm pretty sure it's broken. I couldn't get results for anything I searched for just now. I just did a general search for "thread" and got zero matches.
probably would have been helpful if you could have searched for this:
https://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?topic=27189.msg1023919#msg1023919
I tried, but it said that there were no results found.

Also encountered this issue when searching for the insomnia thread.

Same here, just tried search of some common words and got nothing
Yeah well Gantry is SLOWLY working on it.
Search is working
Have we all discussed how fucking shitty search is now?
Yes we have, give example and specifics of you can find out where search is succeeding and failing and I'll do my best to fix. If you want to get it fixed, help troubleshoot the problem...
What am I? Free labor?
Again, the quote option doesn't work. For instance, type in "Dee-Nee sucks" you get 9 pages of stuff. Or "gantry sucks" and you get 30 results.
Or literally type in any bunch of nonsense like "ghjsk" of "hoisddsd" and you'll get 30 results.

But "dee-nee sucks" does give the proper results for some things, comes up on result #6 for me. Keep the examples coming of what works and what doesn't. I honestly have no idea how to fix and where to start looking so the more examples of things that 100% work and don't work are what's needed to figure things out.
Also examples of non-quoted things that work and don't work, seems like multi-word stuff works better.
Found where you can change how the search results are rated, I'm going to beef up the % for matching the subject/topic name. I assume most of us are looking for the name of a thread.

Don't assume that. For example, when I wanted to search Flicky, one or two threads should have came up, but wasn't looking for a thread called Flicky. The fact that 30 threads came up and not one referenced Flicky is pretty much how search is(n't) working at the moment.
Gotcha but I didn't remove the others just gave topic name more weights.
I think the issue is that it's matching partial words or something, because the main result for flicky for example have nothing close to that in it. But if you re-search the topic that comes up first I do see like "ck" in some of the posts.
OK this thread and post is the first result for flicky, someone figure out why. Maybe a partial pattern match?

Last time I went to Morton's I had to send my steak back twice because it was too raw.
Tonight I told my waitress my story and told her I felt terrible about it happening last time I was there, that I didn't really even want to send it back either time last time, that the waitress and then maitre D had insisted and that it was probably my fault for ordering wrong. Tonight I told her I just want it pink from top to bottom, no dark red in the middle and I'd order it whatever way it took to get it that way. She thought about it and said "medium rare plus." Sure enough it was rare as all fuck, she immediately apologized and sent it back, Maitre D brought it back, asked me to cut into and before I could say anything said they had messed it up again and took it away. Third time they got it right. Later the waitress said she should have just requested medium and it would have been closest to what I wanted.
I ended up getting my steak 30 minutes later than everyone else. I tipped 10%. How much an asshole am I?
You should probably learn what your steak temperature is called. Sounds like you should just fucking say medium.

OK this thread is the first result for flicky, then if you search the topic itself this comes up first, why?

Maybe because those letters appear in order in the post?
Since the first part is a quote you would figure the original post would be pushing it over the top (HI KANE):
QuoteYou should probably learn what your steak temperature is called. Sounds like you should just fucking say medium.
I'm thinking whatever is in that quote you highlighted and the addition of "fucking" is tipping the scales. But it makes no sense, and I checked off "match whole words only"
I wonder if I have to rebuild the whole fkn index again if I say "match whole words only" - wouldn't think so
I think that could be it. If you search for Flicky in the News board, you only get a few threads. For example you get this one:
https://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?topic=13201.msg262344#msg262344
And fighton's post in that thread has the letters flicky in order in his post

Are they in order here?
"sometimes i feel i have nothing better to offer than date rape and AIDS jokes.
If all you did was contribute AIDS and date rape jokes, this world would still be a better place."
don't see a "cky" in order

yeah, I would have expected those results to be reversed
I'm not even sure what specifically I tweaked, but the results are looking better. Try some searches again...

No. In fighton's post a few above. The search results just come back with the thread but not a specific post (as it used to).
But it actually links to a specific post when you click on it.
That said try some searches again, I think I got it working better though. For some reason I don't think that "match whole words" took when I first set it
Looks like search is working a lot better now. Well done sir.
Well done yourself sir, thanks for the troubleshooting. TAKE NOTE PEOPLE - if you help me troubleshoot issues and give specifics, things get fixed a lot faster. Be more like Shooty, all of you...
Searching for ass fart returned 30 results. Hope that is useful to you Gantry.
Kane, any results for "ass full of shit"

Depends if search has access to the library of things I say daily. If so ...infinite results.
I searched Fred Ward and search worked fine...
So I'm pretty useless here.
