Been playing RBI here http://www.8bbit.com/play/r-b-i-baseball/683 and I simply cannot beat the computer. What the hell is wrong with me?
What's your secret people!?
The biggest problem I am having is that I try to throw the ball to the outside of the plate and I push left or right too much and it's a ball, but if I push it too little the computer just smashes it. It seems like there is so little margin for error.
What version of the game is it? The computer in the regular Unmodified game is ridiculously easy so something isn't right.
Looks like the original NES version, although I just checked it out briefly and haven't yet figured out what the keyboard controls are. It would be pretty hard without a gamepad; I've never played with the keyboard before.
The big key to being successful at RBI is being able to field effectively - you have to have an idea where your fielders start and know where to move them, and it helps to master the fast throw (direction + A at the same time). Most teams have a lot of power, but you can usually do okay pitching to contact, as long as you know what you're doing in the field (which takes some practice).
Strikeouts are possible when pitching, but the computer won't chase anything more than a few pixels off the plate, so you can't do much more than paint the corners. The most effective way to get strikeouts against the computer is to push them off the plate with inside pitches and then curve one across the outside corner.
