Title: controller suggestions
Post by: bugtrotter on 09/04/04, 11:50:05 AM
Can anyone recommend a good controller for PCs?  Gantry has mentioned an NES USB controller, but i haven't been able to find anything like that on the web.   Anybody have a link?

Currently i'm using a 5 year old InterAct PiranhaPad which is pretty good, but only seems to work with Nesticle.  The down & up controls don't work with FCE Ultra, as well as a few other emulators i've tried.

Any suggestion will be greatly appreciated!

I have a couple of Gravis GamePad Pros, which work quite well.  It's basically a PlayStation controller, but with no analogs (same button layout and shape).  It sells for $15, and there are versions with the dual analogs for $5-10 more, I think.  My brother found a dual analog controller at Best Buy for $10 a few weeks ago; I can't remember the brand, though, and I haven't heard from him how well he likes it.

This is what Gantry is talking about.  I have one, too, and it's pretty good.  My start button is a total pain in the ass, but everything else is very good...

That is the place and that is the controller.  Funny Joe, I don't have any issues with my start button.  You might have gotten a lemon...

I emailed the company and they said to open up the controller and wipe the start button contacts with rubbing alcohol...not exactly good customer service!  :-\

You'd might want to buy a new NES controller & swap out the electronics.
