Wow, he's better than I thought stat wise:

843 power, 11 contact - honestly not too far off from Wally Joyner. Yet I have WAY more success with Absorbine. Anyone have success with him?

Elaine Benes did! OH!
He's no Jack Clark.
Jack Clark is definitely one of the most overrated RBI players.

My experience is similar - I never thought of Hernandez as all that great, certainly not on the level of Joyner. I think our perceptions are maybe colored by the perception of the player - I started playing RBI around '89 or '90, and I still thought of Joyner as a young star and Hernandez as an old guy on the downside of his career.
For what it's worth, that perception kept my expectations of Hernandez low when GDavis suggested putting him in our starting lineup in Fantasy RBI, and he ended up doing really well there.
Looks like his closest contemporaries that are left handed are between Don Mattingly and Lou Whitaker. That actually sounds about right...
