Title: wierd error
Post by: GreatScott on 09/11/04, 07:31:10 AM
was playing online the other day when a very strange error occured.  i was pitching and the batter hit a slow roller to the left side of the mound.  I fielded the ball and tried to make a throw to first.  problem was that the ball didnt go to first.  the ball was basically thrown in between 1st and home.  im taking the middle of the basepath.  the ball hit the right dugout wall behind home plate.  wierd huh?  anyone else hear of this?

That's really strange.  Never had anything remotely close like that happen to me.  The closest thing I've seen is wen the computer misses third or home, but that has never happened to a human player in my playing experience.

Never seen that one either.

I saw this happen once playing RBI 3 back in junior high.  It was a throw from the third baseman (Gaetti, I think), and it just skipped through the infield and went right between first and home.  It wasn't in the air for more than 10 or 20 Nintendo feet.  I've never seen it in the original, though, and I only saw it in RBI 3 that one time.  I think both games have the same fielding engine, though (except for the jumping/diving), so that would kinda make sense.

I've seen that misplay no BOP by the CPU happen on both the NES and the Arcade, can't figure out any ryhme or reason to it.

I've never seen either error before, though I don't play the CPU a whole bunch.  The computer fielder does often move after it raises it's some so I can see an estimating error there...

But for the throwing error, which fielder did you use?  I've never seen a throw miss a base with a non-outfielder before, especially one that far off.  Most odd...

I also don't believe have ever seen this happen.  I do make intentionally unsual throws whenever possible, though.  Like if the 3rd basemen catches the ball in foul ground behind 3rd, the you throw to 3rd and it goes to the pitcher, stuff like that.  Never, I tried to throw to 1st with the SS and it went to the 1st base dugot.

Sorry I rambled a bit there.  I was agreeing with you, I've never thrown seen a glitch in which the throw didn't go where it was supposed to (my example was a SS throw going to the 1st base dugout instead of to the 1st basemen).  Never seen it.
