Title: game of the century
Post by: fknmclane on 09/12/04, 02:58:19 AM
Chubbrock    Ho    0
McLane    Bo    3

Highlights:
Chubbs:  36 ABs
McLane:  41 ABs

Chubbs:  8 H
McLane:  12H

Chubbs:  0 extra base hits
McLane:  2 HR's (nothing else)

Chubbs:  17 errors
McLane:  11 errors

-I wish we could post the box score to this game.  It went down to the 11th inning, where the Red Sox scored 3 in the top of the 11th to take the lead.

Rockin' Roger closed the game out in the 11th, to complete the shutout for 11 complete innings.

Chubbrock is my bitch.

-Chubbs is screaming bullshit at the moment
->but he can eat a dick...I just threw 11 shutout innings, Houston or not.  Bitches.

the game of the century clearly transpired sometime in the Spring of '01, where I lost a 26 inning RBI-athon 2-1.  I was Houston vs. St. Louis.  I don't think there has ever been a longer game of RBI on record.  Unfortunately, I didn't keep the stats, but Dave Smith was the losing pitcher.

boston v houston isnt really a fair game.
i think the best marathon games come from houston v stl or ny.  all those teams (houston especially) cant hit for shit and have excellent pitching staffs.  makes for an endless extra inning duel.

Mclane, were you batting with your eyes closed?

No shit.  He was using Nolan and kept busting me in on the hands of all my righties.  Obviously, I didn't adjust to well and DSmith took the loss.

Chubbs was in the fucking zone and I was clearly not.

Some days the little fat guys just don't bring their A game.

I've been on the winning end of a 2-1 game, SF over HO and the losing end of a 3-2 game DT over MN.  Both of these were straight pitch.

I once won a game by hitting a homer with Marc "Stinky" Sullivan.  Tell me that's not amazing.

Sullivan used to be a clutch pinch hitter in college, but has since devolved into a complete waste of space.  He's been a 5-year slump...

i gotta agree that games of the century almost HAVE to be between Ho and SL... because you can go so freakin deep into extra innings since you only have to pitch around/get lucky with 1 or 2 batters in each lineup... you really should never go past 12 when playing with Dt, Ca or Bo... unless something TOTALLY freaky happens, you should definitely score a run off the bullpen at some point between the 8th and 12th... as usual, i am only referring to curve pitch... i dont know how long slurve pitchers typically go, or what innings their relievers/closers come in..

I've never liked Sullivan since that day in '89 when he hit into a triple play against my buddy Kevin.  I'll never forgive him.
