Title: who would you be
Post by: fknmclane on 09/16/04, 01:20:30 PM
If you could be one player in RBI Baseball, who would it be?  This question goes for the game itself and also for real life.

For the game, I gotta pick Chili Davis.  He gets to live in San Francisco, plays centerfield, bats lefty, has great speed, and has mad clout.

For real life, my choice is Keith Hernandez.  He won MVP in 1979 with the Cards, won a World Series with a crazy team and also got to appear on Seinfeld.  Oh yeah, he also did copius amounts of drugs.

Let's get some discussion going on the RBI board, bitches!  Let's not forget our roots.  It is the RBI that binds us.

Great question. I've got to think about this, though. I'll have a decision in a few.

For the game, I'd say Tim Raines

Real life I'm going with Ozzie Smith or Nolan Ryan, both seem to be pretty well liked, down to earth.

anyone but Donnie Moore... he's dead, that's why...

Seriously, I would say Clemens because he has been pretty dominant.  He's still around and he's in good shape, and I don't think you would run out of money if you tried.

RBI life:  Potatoes or Trammel.  Either one, really, they both have awesome stats and are from good cities.

Real life: If he didn't have a ball removed, John Kruk (only because I'm a Philly fan.  I'm too lazy to add a Phillies logo to my avatar.  Oh well.).  But since Kruk is testicularly deficient, Nolan Ryan.  I mean, 7 no-hitters and a ring.  Even though he blew that lead against the '80 Phillies in the deciding game of the NLCS.

Trammel played his whole career in Detroit.  What exactly would be a not-good city?  I've never been there, I guess, but I don't think of Detroit as any sort of paradise.

As a baseball player (in the game), I'd be Vince Coleman - I think it'd be cool to be able to run like that.  In real life, I'm gonna go with Frank Viola, because I've always wondered what it would be like to be left-handed, and I like Minnesota.  He also won a World Series MVP and a Cy Young.  I picked him over Rocket and Ryan because a southern accent would probably make me kill myself.

I meant good teams.  And no, the Detroit Board of Tourism didn't hand me a large bag of money.

Once when I was at a Twins game, Sun Country Airlines had a trivia contest in which they gave the winner a trip to Detroit.  I laughed about that for a whole inning.

I've heard it called the Armpit of America.

Most places in the southeast could pass for the Armpit of America.  Detroit, however, is the shitstain on america's boxers.

In RBI I would have to go with Steve Lake.  I'm not big on doing stuff and Lake gets a cushy job, lives in a good city, makes great money and never plays.  Even when he does play that 1AB every 5 games nobody expects things out of him.   Perfect...

In real life I'll go with Pedro Guerrero.  Cocaine is a hell of a drug and too stupid to have any real problems...

Under the premise that ignorance is bliss, I'd be Pedro Guerrero...a man apparently too dumb to realize he was engaging in a drug deal.  Now that's happiness.

***ooops...didn't read Gantry's reponse so I came off as thouroughly unoriginal.  My apologies***

Real life:

I'm similar to Tony Armas.  One fantastic year, and then just an obscure nobody. sigh...

RBI-
Kirk Gibson.
