I heard that the fellas from http://www.dee-nee.com/rbi/mbeales/2002.html (M Beales & J Bandur) felt inclined to head down to the beautiful 'Ribbie Headquarters' of Austin, TX to play the best in the world. Is this true? I hear the Ribbie Gods live in Austin and the champion of last years tourney was no-hit by one of them. I also hear that when the Ribbie Gods convene (there are 4 of them), it's quite debauchery....and damn good Ribbie playin'
The facts stated in the above mentioned are true. Playing the best in the world though? I'm quite unsure about that one... Let's just say there was a serious fatigue issue that must be factored into those games for us. Traveling 2591.2 miles (round-trip) in 48 hours and 43 minutes took quite a toll on the R.B.I. Baseball COTUT crew.
You Confederates must not get ahead of yourselves now. For the Union will be ready to represent. Let's just say the truth (as to who is the best in the universe) will be discovered on Decmeber 29th, 2002. Until that date (in which R.B.I history will be made with the largest and most competitive R.B.I. tournament ever), noone can claim the title of Champion of the Universe.

RBI Texas is #1.
pitching/defense...pitching/defense.
there is complete confidence from the Texas RBI contingent that we will be well represented in the tourney.
occasionally in life there is a certain brashness displayed that some might discern as cocky; as it pertains to the Texas RBI contingent and the best video game ever, it's just confidence. it's an attitude. it's being on top of your game.
There is no pressure on members of the RBI Texas contingent when competing in the game of RBI; we are confident in our strategies, we are confident in our abilites. We understand the game of baseball; we understand the game of RBI on a granular level and recognize any differenes/descrepancies that may exist between the actual game and our beloved video game.
I don't care if you're on first with Vince Coleman...you will not steal 2nd base even if I have rag-arm Matt Nokes behind the plate.
We stay ahead in the count when pitching.
We make pitchers throw strikes when hitting.
It's all about knowing what you have to do and taking the contoller in your hand and doing it.
perhaps that would explain why JFreed and I have covered 43 innings in our last THREE games. that's right...3 games, 43 innings. our last contest ended in the bottom of the 16th with a solo shot. final score 1-0. Neither one of us have yielded a run with our starting pitchers in eons.
confidence coupled with execution equals championships.
thats quite a mission statement you've got there SA.
it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
SA if your ever in the bay area, I'll bet you a finger you would get beat. Let me know
If SA and I are ever in town we'll be sure to bring the Texas Heat, slap you around like we did the Chi-town boys and then you can watch like a deer in headlights as 'our game' will teach you a few things...Ribbie and life.
Anyhoo, what's stopping you from heading east in Dec?
The Texas boys are heading out in December, eh? I have this terrible feeling that I am going to get the living shit beaten out of me at this tourney. Probably time to start practicing curves...
Let me say this about the "Texas Contingent". They are good, actually they are real good, but they are beatable. Chicago was not prepared for what happened on October 5, 2002 at the stadium in Austin. I came in thinking that no one could be as good as us, but I was wrong. That was without a doubt the worst day of my life. But I can say this. On December 27, 2002 I welcome the Texas Boys and anyone else who believes they are worthy enough to join the single largest RBI tournament in history. This time we will be ready. The question is: Will you be ready? You only have 59 days left in Texas to prepare. It might not be enough time.
Quotethats quite a mission statement you've got there SA.

True, it's just too bad SA won't be attending the tournament.
