Am i missing someone or is phil garner the only coach/player left in the playoffs?
Julian tavarez would have made for a great rbi'er.
You missed a kind of obvious one - Roger Clemens. The Astros are still very much in the playoffs.
Ellis Burks? Is he on the playoff roster or not?

obvious is an understatement.
Willie Randolph and Don Mattingly are on the Yankees

I just checked the Roster page on redsox.com, and he's not listed.
Gary Gaetti is a coach with the Astros

I read an article about him. Apparently, he isn't on the playoff roster for this round. He's been making appearances in the radio or tv (forget which) booth and has decided that's what he'll do next year.
Speaking of Mattingly, I think this stint as the hitting coach is to set him up for the manager gig when Torre retires.

Possibly, but I thought they were grooming Randolph to be manager.
Randolph was gonna be the guy but with Donnie Baseball in the picture, it's a tossup. If he wants the job, The Boss will give it to him. Either way, I think both would make great managers.
It depends - has Mattingly cut those ridiculous sideburns yet?
I heard somewhere that Randolph has been interviewing for a job other than New York - maybe the Diamondbacks? I can't remember.

I thought it was just the Mets

Definitely not the DBacks. He wasn't one of the 8 pieces of crap they interviewed. It's gonna be a loooong three or four years here in the desert.
Steinbrenner will never let a black man manage his team

I dunno if this will turn out to be true.
Have the Red Sox ever had a black manager? I once thought Joe Morgan was Joe Morgan from the Reds. That was pretty funny.
I saw on the Daily Show that the Red Sox were the last team to have a black baseball player...
This is not true. The Devil Rays were. Damn racist floridians.
;D
If it was on the Daily Show, it's gotta be true.
Did anyone see Jon Stewart and Tucker Carlson on Crossfire? I read about it but didn't get the chance to see it. Apparently, they really got into it and Stewart even called him an asshole. Sounds like Stewart is sick of the rest of the media telling him he's an idiot.
If anybody has a clip--I'd like to see it. John Stewart is awesome--these fuckers are getting nervous that everyone will see their fucking shows are bullshit.

The Intern for the SportsGuy has it on his weekly links page. I just read the transcript. Pretty good.
Yes, it is. At least I'm 99% sure it is.

Is this the same Jose Cruz from the '86 Astros? He's listed as the Astro's 1st base coach.
It is, and he's one of the distinguished few who are a part of both the NES version and the Arcade version. I was just scrolling through to pop his name in, when I noticed that you mentioned him
Also Joe Torre is in the arcade version
Jon Stewart beats up on the unfunny, uninteresting Tucker Carlson:

One of my biggest complaints with the media is that they don't actually do reporting or journalism...it is this idiot punditry/tabloid opinion press. I love watching Stewart shit on this show, which is a prime example of this.
you should check out the "Anything Goes" forum. We discuss a lot of stuff like that, and have actually had a few threads on the Crossfire show.
