Well, when you only have seven home runs as a team through three games, and the INDIVIDUAL league leaders have five each, that's not so good. I don't know what's been a bigger suprise for you - Potatoes only having two home runs through three games, or Dave Henderson basically playing like dog crap the whole way through (zero HRs and one extra base hit through three games).
at least you bastards have won a game
>:(
Cal Ripken is lighting it up...
Pretty poor showing so far beef, pick up the pace..
Beefmaster is playing me this week, so I'm sure it will be a breakout game for him and Reggie.
Remember how most of us kind of ignored drafting pitchers, and only did it as an afterthought?
I just wanted to point out that the only undefeated team so far (The Stiffs) has an team ERA that is more than four runs better than anyone else (8.65 vs. 12.86 for The OC), and he's the only one giving up less than two hits per inning.
Of course, his offense is also leading the league in HR (averaging a HR roughly every 6.5 ABs) and slugging, so that helps. Damn that Blank Morris...

But the pitchers he has are ones no one in their right mind had high on their list to draft, so I don't think there is a relation.
Remember that I wound up auto-drafting most of his team with the whole "waiting period" fiasco. After his starting batting order was filled, I went through and drafted the two best starting pitchers and two best relievers (Rounds 9-12). I don't think that anyone else drafted pitchers that highly.
His starting pitchers were picked around the same time or a little later than most, his relievers were picked earlier than anyone but Beef's.
USC your pitcher depth chart (analysis for ranking pitchers) must be pretty good, though I'm not certain the 3 games are statistically significant. (I know they are not, but I've simulated more than that and Ojeda and Cox seem to do well for some reason).
I went back and looked, and I guess you're right. Basically, when I ranked pitchers, I took their fastball speed, total curve (left and right) and drop rating, and ranked them against the other players in those three categories. I then added those three numbers, and the player with the lowest total number ranked No. 1, etc.
For example, Dwight Gooden ranked No. 1 overall on that list. He had the 6th best fastball, 14th best total curve and 16th best drop rating, for total score of 36. Nolan Ryan tied for 17th overall, with the 2nd best fastball, 14th best curve (same as Gooden) but only the 37th best drop rating, giving him a final score of 53. It was a very rough way of doing it, but it gave me a good sense of who has a pitcher with overall good stuff versus a one-trick pitcher (i.e. Scott with his drop pitch or Ryan and the fastball).
The crazy junkball pitchers have done much better, Ryan has got nothing but lit up and Tudor and Ojeda have been smoking everyone's shit.
I think really bad players can be great in the watch mode that rules league play. you notice that a lot of pitchers have doubles and triples. Those lazy ground balls that are easy outs in regular games are golden in this league. i think the ideal fantasy player has a really bad contact rating and a bit of power. Enter Blank Morris. granted i didnt technically draft him but whatever. i think whoever is benching lindman, garner, or even danny heep is probably making a big mistake. star power doesnt buy a ring. just ask the yanks. you gotta play money ball.
btw sorry ive been awol guys.
I coulda told you guys that Ryan sucks in these watch games for some reason...they best P in this situation is Scott by far!
not this year. i got MScott and i'm 0-3.
damn, shitpaw--you ruin everything. i'm surprised the red sox won, with your support and all!
The Rivalry Continues...
BeefMaster and dvldog (ShitPaw) faced off in the Season I World Series. dvldog won the series in 6 games.
After both teams took Season II off, BeefMaster is likely bitter and seeking revenge after being upset in the inagural (sp) World Series.
Adding to the rivalry, a few players have gone from one team to the other. Watch for these guys to step it up.
dvldog has only lost Reggie Jackson to BeefMaster.
BeefMaster has lost Tony Armas and Mike Scott to ShitPaw.
I went through the old thread to compile these stats from Season I:
Games Won
BM - 4
dd - 4
Runs Scored
BM - 94
dd - 113
