Title: three consecutive?
Post by: fknmclane on 10/30/04, 10:46:09 AM
It looks like the Diamondbacks will be passing the RBI managerial torch to Wally Backman.  My sources tell me Al Pedrique is definitely out and Backman is the man pegged to succeed him.

This move makes Backman the third manager in a year for the Diamondbacks but more importantly, the third consecutive former RBI Baseball player to manage the team.

At least they understand the importance of having an RBI player leading their team--now they just have to find the right one.

While the DBacks are obviously not passing the torch to another RBIer following the Backman fiasco, Bob Melvin is looking at adding Mike Aldrete to his staff.

This is somewhat of a consolation prize but any time a stud RBI pinch hitter can be added to a staff, it's a good thing.

I also wanted to bring up the fact that Wally Backman is one UGLY motherfucker.  Perhaps this should be mentioned in his Hall of Shame entry.

I still say that the D'Backs would have won it all with D'Cincs.  They blew everything.  Now they have a shitty team with a manager who never appeared in RBI
