Title: editing problems
Post by: demystifier on 10/30/04, 03:34:15 PM
Hey, I've been having problems with Nightwulf's editor when I go back and try to change things and was wondering if you guys could help me out.  First I'd like to say that I greatly appreciate all the work Nightwulf has done to make it as easy as it is to do roms in the first place, which has revitalized my interest in RBI and given me something useful to contribute to others that like the game.

My problems are this:

1) Sometimes when I go back in to edit, pitcher ERAs will show up at whatever the first number of their ERA is, and then two zeros, so all pitchers are at something like 2.00, 1.00, 3.00, 4.00, etc.  This doesn't effect performance, so I can live with it.  Also there are only 40 pitchers, so whenever I finally fix everything else, I can just go back through and fix ERAs one final time, and then save and let whatever other minor errors exist be what they may.

2) Sometimes when I try to edit, all pitcher stats have been reset to zero, and the "individual pitching stats" option is selected.  This wouldn't be bad, except that I've had difficulty getting the default stats back up.

Any suggestions?  Is there anything I'm doing wrong?  I'm thinking that I am going to try uploading from my saved ROM each time instead of the one on the server, as that might be part of the problem.

By the way, I'm about half finished on the 1993 NL ROM too, so I'll try to post that this week.

I played around with this for a bit, and there's something seriously wrong with the ROM data parser in regards to pitcher data. I can't believe no one's pointed this out before. Give me a few ...

Ok, I think this is fixed. The problem lied in the routine that converts your ROM data (stored on the server) to Javascript (for use in the editor application itself). So, fortunately, the original ERAs and pitcher data you entered were saved correctly. They just weren't being displayed properly when the same data was reloaded. Try loading your ROM in the editor again; it should be displayed correctly now.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Please feel free to let me know of any other questions, comments, or complaints.

So I was browsing other parts of the editor 'cause this error was just too large and stupid, and it turns out fixing this error broke ROM uploading. Loading a ROM with per-pitcher batting or long ERAs enabled would give you a bunch of zeros, like described above.

I think it's all fixed (really!) this time.

hey, I think everything is working well now...thanks for all the work done to make RBI editing possible...it is alot of fun...I just can't wait to get through all the 1993 stuff, so I can make 1990 stats with Oakland, Cecil Fielder's 51 HR season, etc.

I noticed the smae problems when I made my 2004 playoff ROM. Just check everything before you save.  Also noticed pitchers batting avg comes out as .050 instead .150.   The stats don't really mean anything anyway.
