Title: Moero Pro Yakyuu
Post by: cafetero on 11/02/04, 04:52:19 PM
Hi, I know this is not about RBI game, but I found two roms labelled "Moeru Pro Yakyuu", one says "(Black)" and the other "(Red)". I've played both of them and so far, didn't found any significant difference. Anyone knows if there are differences between these two games?

Thanks in advance.

I assume Pro Yakyuu means it's a Family Stadium version, do you know which one?  Does it have a year on the title screen?   Can you email or post the ROMs by any chance?

one may be a black cartridge and the other a red cartridge.  I'm not sure if this solves it, but it might be why one is labeled red and the other black.

Where are those pics from shitpaw?  The black cart is Family Stadium 88, can't read the red one.  My family stadium (87) is also black, I think it's a common color on the Famicom...

They're from ebay.  I don't think the red cartridge is even an RBI game, but I thought I'd bring up the cartridge color issue in case someone had a red cartridge.

Sorry, I forgot to mention. :( "Pro Yakyuu" is known in this side of the ocean as "Bases Loaded".

Thanx for the answers. :) It may be that the difference lies in the cartridge not in the game itself. I wonder, anyhow, since the two roms gave different CRCs.

That's a bit confusing, the game RBI was originally based on is often called "Pro Yakyuu Family Stadium" on the Internet.  Is that a direct translation?  Pro Yakyuu is a Namco game right?  Bases Loaded is made by Jaleco, not Namco....

A quick Japanese dictionary lookup leads me to believe Pro Yakyuu means Professional Baseball or Pro Baseball, not Bases Loaded.  My Japanese is pretty much nonexistant, so I could be wrong...

I checked the ebay article where i found the pictures, and it says it's a version of Bases Loaded.

With a little of help of the GoodNES program, I found that are at least 18 different japanese roms with the words "Pro Yakyuu" in them and all of them are baseball, so we can assume Yakyuu is japanese for baseball as Gantry stated. :D

There are a few series, the most notorious are:
"Pro Yakyuu Family Stadium" = RBI like
"Moeru Pro Yakyuu" = Bases Loaded
"Best Play Pro Yakyuu" = Not the slightest idea, maybe didn't arrive to USA.

I hope this helps.

For future reference, this site is devoted to RBI Baseball.  The next time you bring up another game, especially in this part of the forum, you will be given a savage beating.   ;)

I think at this point DoveRBI only checks the RBI forum to see if there are any references to baseball games besides RBI.
