Title: Big RBIer Management Update
Post by: BeefMaster on 11/04/04, 07:39:14 AM
Willie Randolph has been hired to manage the New York Mets (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1915733) - an RBIer taking over an RBI team.

In other news, Charlie Manuel beat out Terry Pendleton and Don Baylor for the Phillies job (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1915690), and the Astros made Phil Garner their full-time manager, removing the interim title (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=1915606).

Fuck the Phillies for not hiring Pendlesack.  He's a far better choice than Charlie Manuel.

I don't understand why teams insist on hiring guys who have proven to be at best decent managers.  Take a chance, especially if it's a former RBIer and if you're the DBacks, especially if the guy has an assault and DUI conviction.  Can't go wrong.
