Game Summary:

Cutting a Hall of Fame pitcher is certainly going to have an effect on a team. Fighting Tony Danzas GM defen got the effect he wanted, as he received a gutty performance from Roger Clemens and some clutch hitting to hold off The OC 13-12 in a Fantasy RBI League game played Friday at Tengen Stadium.

Clemens went 7 1/3 innings to pick up the victory in his team's first game since cutting legendary pitcher Nolan Ryan. Clemens said that the news of his good friend being cut was a wake-up call for the team.

"You don't expect them to cut a Hall of Famer," he said. "If they can cut Nolan Ryan, they can cut anyone. I was so upset about it, I retired on Monday. Fortunately, I came back on Tuesday. That one day of retirement gave me a lot of perspective."

Ryan's replacement, Jack Morris, looked sharp in bailing Clemens out in the eighth inning. He retired both batters he face after The OC (2-2) had scored three runs in the inning to trim The Fighting Tony Danzas' (2-2) lead to 13-10. The OC scored two more runs in the ninth before Bob Stanley was able get the last two outs to close out the game.

The offensive hero for The Fighting Tony Danzas was definitely Eric Davis, who cranked three home runs and drove in seven. Kirk Gibson added a home run and three doubled, while Tim Raines was a single short of hitting for the cycle.

The OC wasted a three home run performance by Kirby Puckett, and lost despite outhitting The Fighting Tony Danzas 20-16. However, the difference was the timeliness of the hits, as The Fighting Tony Danzas only left two runners on base, while The OC stranded six.

Fuck yeah.  Fuck Ryan.

And Trammell still hasn't hit one out.  Raines is finally starting to come through, which is awesome.

That No. 2 spot is still going to be trouble for you. Hernandez isn't the answer there, I don't think. Maybe that's where A-Tram should go?

good game.  it makes a huge difference if you can get your first starting pitcher the lead.
