Post by: GDavis on 11/09/04, 03:02:12 PM
Clemens won the Cy Young award.  Amazing.  Can't believe no one's posted this yet.

I guess it's nice for an RBIer to win it, but Johnson deserved the Cy this year - the only stat of Clemens' that was better was his record, and that was entirely because he played for a team that had actual major league hitters.

I suspect that Clemens would have placed in the Top 3 in Cy Young voting this year even if he had stayed retired. I completely agree with BeefMaster - the Big Unit got screwed.

(Yeah, Big Unit...screwed...go ahead and get the comments ready...)

Randy definitely got the screw job.  Fuck Clemens.  I guess the All Star game really doesn't mean anything after all.  I think Fox just wanted one more reason to show his damn wife on national television.

This is fucking bullshit.  There's no reason for The Unit to be lacking Cy Young hardware today.  More K's, less runners per nine, lower opponent BA.  The Unit had arguably his best year ever and he gets the shaft.  If he were pitching for any other team, the prize is his.

Look for him to use this as motivation next year and whoever trades for him will be getting an even better version of the Randy Johnson of old.
