Forgot to mention this yesterday, the Cubs hired Bob Brenly to take over Steve Stone's old job as TV color commentator.
Ah, good news...
OK bitches, today is the today for a front page update. Someone check out the WATN (http://dee-nee.com/rbi/wherearetheynow.shtml) page and list each item that is outdated or need to be added. I'll actually get it done today....
Gonna do the post of the week too or is that idea dead?
I will, this will be an extended week though...
Ellis Burks is retired, Roger Clemens is in Michael Jordan Semi-Memorial Half Retirement mode, so watch for him. And Darryl is sucking a dick for crack.
Don Baylor - Mariners hitting coach - espn.com baseball newswire
Tim Raines is the new "first base/baserunning coach" for the White Sox.
I'm Tim Raines, Bitch. (http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/transactions?date=20041103)
This also must mean that Santana is out or just a regular coach.
Pettis has been fired as first base coach for the Mets... FIRED, not hired.
Billy Hatcher moved from 3rd Base Coach to 1st Base Coach for Tampa Bay.
Tony Gwynn just got his number retired.

I think I saw that Santana is staying within the organization as a minor league coach somewhere. I had a link on this a couple weeks ago but am too lazy to find it.
Tom Brookens is living in Fayetteville, PA, and is coaching girls' softball on the high school team that his two daughters are on:
Cumberland Valley Christian softball (http://www.odc-cvcs.org/html/softball.html)
They were undefeated league champs last year, which I think makes him next in line for the Diamondbacks job...
Charley Kerfeld signed by the Padres as a Professional Scout. (http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/sd/news/sd_press_release.jsp?ymd=20041104&content_id=910134&vkey=pr_sd&fext=.jsp)
"Additionally, the club has hired Charlie Kerfeld as a Professional Scout. Prior to joining the Padres, Kerfeld, the fifth overall pick by the Houston Astros in the 1982 First-Year Player Draft (secondary phase), held a similar role with the Seattle Mariners. "
Do Brookens's daughters have the 'stache too? Or at least the goofy glasses?
I don't know. I would make sexual comment about them, but since they are underage, I won't.
Although, maybe we should do like the Golden Globes, where they always have some daughter of a movie star be "Ms. Golden Globes". Since the RBIers kids are starting to get around legal age, maybe we need to investigate the pee-in-their-buttholability of RBI player progeny.
I'm guessing that if Willie McGee has a daughter, I wouldn't want to pee in her butthole.
Kent Hrbek has an outdoors show on the NBC affiliate in Minneapolis. (http://www.kenthrbekoutdoors.com/) Has anyone seen this? It looks pretty quality to me...if you're a redneck who likes huntin' and fishin'.
I just checked the listings, and this show is broadcast in Rochester on a nearby ABC affiliate. I'll try to catch the Sunday morning broadcast and post a report. I hate fishing shows, but Hrbie is my all-time favorite Twin. As a bonus, Matt Birk is on this week.
CurtFlood - the show is also broadcast in Cedar Rapids.

On that note, I did a google images search for a random female name with Brookens. Kim Brookens gave me one pic, so I fired up the gimp. Someone in California, fightonusc is crying over my picture editing skills...
And I am officially turning off the TV right now, going downstairs, putting on a record and cleaning up the WATN page. Fuck this laziness...
And when I finish, I'm drinking that 16oz Old Sytle "Fan Can" in my fridge. Dee-Nee!

I am self-nominating this for Post of the Week!
All of the names on this thread have been added to the WATN (http://dee-nee.com/rbi/wherearetheynow.shtml), let me know what else I missed. Also made the following changes:
- Randolph as manager of the Mets
- No more Backman in the Puerto Rican league
Latest I see on Santana is that he may go to the Mets as a 1b coach, but nothing as of yet. Stay tuned...

Probably because they found out he is black
So, when do you think they'll figure out about Willie Randolph?

say it ain't so...
Either Mike Aldrete or Will Clark will be the new hitting coach for the DBacks. An announcement should come this week. Whoever doesn't get the job will still be part of the organization, so it looks like the DBacks are gonna have 3 RBIers involved at the major league level (Pedrique, Clark, and Aldrete.) DEE NEE!
So does that mean that Pedrique is staying on with the club?

Yeah, he's gonna resume his position as third base coach.
Shit, I just remembered reading that he took a job with the Astros.
I think I'm a combination of Dan Rather and Jayson Blair.

I must say it is clear that Will Clark is the better pure hitter in RBI over Aldrete and thus should be given the job in San Fran. However, I think Aldrete has one of the purest strokes in the entire game. I leadoff with him every time I play with the Giants and I think he is incredibly effective. He probably does not have a real high slugging percentage, but he definitely rips base hits to right.

I think you may be due for Gantry's Spillman lecture. You've never take SF 101, have you?
I understand his love of Spielman, but for me, look at Aldrete's .325 average, that is intense. I also prefer a steady bat in the leadoff spot and use Spielman in a pinch hitting role when I need a clutch AB later in the game.

"Former interim Diamondbacks manager Al Pedrique, who was set to return to the club as Arizona's third base coach, turned down the offer and appeared head to a front-office position with the Houston Astros. Pedrique wanted more than a one-year contract from the Diamondbacks and got a two-year offer from Houston."
Anyone have a concrete title for Pedrique?
