If anyone out there plays 7 games series where you cant be the same team twice (standard issue for us), do you guys feel that any team just always seems to get the best of another team in particular?? For us the Cards always inexplicably get the best of the Red Sox... im fully aware of how much better the Sox are and have been playing forever, so please dont lecture me on "not using them right" or somethin like that... its just really weird, Clemens fires the ball in and ozzie/vince just nubb it down the 3rd base line for singles, then a random gap shot from JClark/McGee and youve got the lead... StL pitching just seems to own the Sox super lineup... also, Minnesota gets owned by EVERYBODY (including Houston).. the only time ive ever been no-hit was with Minnesota, the lowest point in my RBI career... I wanted to castrate Puckett after the game (wasnt a perfect game, btw... Hrbek would get walked every AB after his 1st)
We don't play 7 game series that way but we do seem to come up with matchups that always seem to be interesting or come out the same way.
NY always gives NA a good game for some reason. We also have battles between Ca and Mn.

Your first mistake with the Bos/StL match up is letting Clark see any pitches--ever.
When possible I like to play a 7 game series with the same 2 teams, so you can only use 1 starter in each game.

That used to be standard operating procedure when I played the game back in elementary school. It got easier when we moved to RBI 2 and 3, because each team then had 4 starters instead of 2, so you could get away with using 2 per game.

When my roommate and I used to play drinking rbi in college, that's what we'd do. Except we played no rules whatsoever, and I think we usually played 5 games. It was fun stuff.

We didn't have actual rules for the starters, either, but if you use both in 1 game, you don't have any in game 2, so it worked out that way.

Craig drank in college? I don't believe it. No fucking way my little brother would do something like that.
I believe the only pure way to play an RBI series is to play best out of 3 games, and you must use your second starter for game 2 and then bring back the game 1 starter for game 3 if it goes that far.
BurksForLeadoff and myself have always felt there is a certain momentum in the game of RBI, a guy can get hot in game 1 and that might continue for the rest of the series, or a reliever might be throwing nasty stuff (or getting shelled for that matter), and hence a reset of the system destroys this pure way of playing the game.
And by the way, RBI 2??? RBI 3??? I will stick to the classic version.....thank you very much.
