Gantry and all, hello, how goes it??
As the organizer of the 2002 RBI Tourney in new York City, I would like to get another one going, not sure though if Joe, AKA, Ex Big Apple RBI Champ still lives here or not.
Please reply to this topic or send me an email at shakesmashaba@yahoo.com and I will organize some RBI roundball.
best,
Blyleven_No-No
you might be referring to joedirt, and he postshere. by the way, what is RBI roundball, is that some sort of archrivals-rbi hybrid rom?
Sorry to confuse, I meant roundball in the sense of multiple players, multiple systems, multiple TVs, making sure that everybody gets different match ups in, etcetera.....I STAND CORRECTED THOUGH, THANKS!
Wow Blyleven, welcome back! Most of the NYC crew has been gone for awhile. Didn't GDavis come down and play with you guys once or twice? He's still posting, but that's about it. GD can help me out here...
GDavis and I are the only 2 NYers I know of around here...
i live in the city
I live in New York, but apparently I am a dick, so thats that.
I am near the city. I would play.
It is great to see so many New York RBI fans out there these days, I imagine there are quite a few games going on every evening in different parts of New York City.
Thanks for the welcome back Gantry, it is great to be here. If anybody needs some background on the 2002 NYC tournament, and the subsequent tournament in which I rocked GDavis' world, check out some of the old threads:

Ha, ha, just kidding GDavis, we had some competitive games, would love to have you back again.
An interesting coincidence was that I had slept with the girl who lived in the apartment hosting the tournament, although she was not around at the time. Keep in mind that was a total coincidence, we met the other players on this website, and had never met them before in person.
Would everybody be able to make a tourney that would be hosted in Manhattan?? I sure hope so. Give me a few weeks to organize, hopefully between Thanksgiving and XMas we can play, ideally I would like to have 8 players, with teams drawn at random, and you have to stay with that team throughout the round robin rounds. More to come soon....

This sounds interesting, but it's a little confusing. Did you meet this girl because the tourney was there? Was she a friend of another forum member?
I'm not a pervert (well I am) but this may be the first instance of someone getting laid because of Dee-Nee, a truly momentous occassion if so...
not exactly. I had already balled this girl, and it turned out that she was the roomate of one of the forum members from this RBI website.
So the sex had taken place previously, before the tournament started, however, it was still a total coincidence that the 2 TV tournament was played in her apartment, considering the city has 8 million people in it.
That is quite amazing, unless you have the libido of fellow forum members MikeD and rdub...
I'll fucking get in on that, and I'll probably be able to get 2 more players.

If I remember correctly I fucking rocked you in game 1 and then my bats went cold in games 2 and 3. I'm gonna redeem myself this time. Are you still in Harlem? I'm working and living in the city now, so it won't be like last time where I had to drive 2 hours from an army base in Buttfuck, NJ. It was well worth the trip though.
Any of you guys serious enough of players to make the trek to Columbus, OH for a $100 entry fee tourney? We'd love to have you...and Columbus is the AAA afiliate to the Yankees, after all...

Why don't you have the tourny some place good instead?
Uh, sorry 'bout that.
Just for that, you get the hated ::) face.
::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)
Joe Dirt,
I would never hate on CBus like that, even though OSU is kind of stinking it up....any Buckeye grads in RBI??? It would be awesome to make a roadtrip out to Ohio for that tourney but I don't own a car and it might be tough, but post the dates on the site and we'll figure it out.
GDavis, you know I am just playing, I think you did take that first game from me in the series. Where do you live in the city?? We could meet up for a series before the big tourney if you want, I just need your contact info. I live in the East Village area now, and BTW, I am not a Yankee fan, I am an Oriole fan.
I'm in if your roomate is slinging drinks for the tourney
I'm in if the scheduling works. I'm in the Gramercy Park area.
excellent, we should be able to organize this quite easily, I live in the East Village area, unfortunately, I probably won't be available to organize the big tourney until after Thanksgiving, but we'll figure it out.
Dryden or GDavis, can you host at all for a small series?? The three of us could get together for some round robin.
I don't have a nintendo. If someone brings one I could host a 3-man series. I'm on the upper east side.
I can scrounge a Nintendo, but only one of my controllers works.
Don't have room to host, though.
I have a nintendo and game, and controllers. We can pick a night to play up at GDavis' apartment on 88th and 1st ave. A little 3 way round robin wouyld be quality.
DOES ANYBODY IN NEW YORK HAVE A COPY OF THE CARTRIDGE THAT I COULD BORROW THIS EVENING????
I HAVE A FRIEND COMING INTO TOWN AND NEED TO PLAY A LITTLE RBI THIS EVENING TO SETTLE SOME OLD BATTLES.
I WOULD BE MORE THAN HAPPY TO PICK IT UP FROM ANYWHERE.....PLEASE!?!?!?
shakesmashaba@yahoo.com
Thanks!!!!
Soonest I can get a cartridge into the city is next Monday... sorry.
thanks for trying man, do you klnow any places in NYC that sell old NES games???
I have been trying to call everywhere.
Not really - you could try on craigslist or something similar.
You saying you don't have a funcoland?
no funcoland in new york city, I have called about 25 places today to ask but I am coming up with nothing. I have a cartridge obviously, but just can't get it to work at all. NIGHTMARE!!!
Not only do I not think NYC has one, I don't even know what it is.

Dude, you have one hour to grab this. If you do paypal, you might be able to convince the guy to ship it out tommorow.
Try GameStop or any used game store, many have copies of RBI, will probably run about $8 at a game store.
im on the upper east side too. im down for a tourney
Great Scott, do you have a copy of the game????????
email me at shakesmashaba@yahoo.com or post a message here...THANKS!!!
its on long island. just but one on ebay for 5 bucks if you really need one
QuoteI have a cartridge obviously, but just can't get it to work at all. NIGHTMARE!!!
Blyleven - clean the cart out with rubbing alcohol and a qtip, good chance it'll fix your problem...
then be sure to "store it in a cool, dry place"
Gantry,
I have never used rubbing alcohol before, you think that could definitely help out????
Gantry, thank you very much, there are some official RBI games going on right now in New York City.
I just defeated our friend Andy who showed very bad sportsmanship by turning the NES off as the last out was being made.
Gooden got the complete game in game 3, and Carter and Strawman went yard multiple times. Mookie had a big 2 run hr in game 3 as well.
Thanks Gantry!
yeah, Andy is quite overrated. He's the best player in Jacksonville, but gets smoked when playing an National League team out of Howard County...
