Title: dee-nee.com updates for 11/15/2004
Post by: Gantry on 11/15/04, 05:05:04 PM
November 15, 2004

I don't know what my problem is with front page updates, but I ain't getting any better. I've consistently updated bits and pieces but never culminate it into the dreaded front page update. I am going to get better though this time, honest! People think the site isn't being updated, but it is. That aside...

As the baseball season has ended and teams are shuffling positions, there has been a flurry of activity on the where are they now page. Most notable is the retirement of Ellis Burks and the hiring of Willie Randolph as manager of the Mets. We're down to five active RBI'ers and it doesn't look good for John Franco and Roger Clemens. Stay tuned...

As most of you have heard, the fiasco involving the Diamondbacks 4-day hiring/firing of RBI'er Wally Backman has been a constant source of entertainment. Wally's limited tenure and shady past have earned him a star on the RBI Hall of Shame. Well done sir! If the upper brass at the D-Backs would visit dee-nee.com they would not be hiring these lesser RBI players to the managerial spots (pedrique, backman). Instead, Ruppert Jones would be leading Arizona to the promised land...

Four brand new CD reviews are up, including two by dee-nee forum legend Mark "fkn" McLane. We've begun a cd trading service and we'll each be posting out thoughts on what the other man has sent. My reviews are punk legends The Dead Boys and Tiger Army. McLane took on Dillinger Four and Suicidal Tendencies. Ingest and enjoy...

It's about freaking time Gantry!  ;)

Two "corrections:"

1) I'm not sure I should be considered a legend.  That type of label should be reserved for those that came before me at dee nee and especially for great men like Chili Davis, Johnny Tudor and Ruppert Jones.

2) it may be my fault as I could have written it down wrong while in a drunken stupor, but the title of the Dead Boys album is "Young, Loud and Snotty."

Also, the "star on the dee nee hall of shame" could be spun into a new idea for the hall of shame.  A hallowed hall reserved only for those who have committed the biggest of atrocities.

DEE NEE!

mclane, i would consider you a "dee-nee legend", and i would consider the rbi players as "rbi legens"

Well said Teddy, you're no RBI Legend son...

And the Dead Boys title has been corrected.  Think I just got it stuck in my head and never noticed it was wrong.  Looked up lyrics and bio on allmusic, yet never noticed.  Now I know but will likely call it Young, Loud and Snotty for the rest of my life..

Doesn't this belong in the News section, since that's the whole purpose of that section. Just saying...

It does, but I started putting in RBI to get more discussions on this board.  But you are right, I'll start adding to news since the traffic is through the roof.  Now the poor news section is lacking...

Gantry, you remind me off the Angelica Huston from "The Royal Tennenbaums", always struggling to give the exact same amount of attention to all of your needy children (in this case, sections of the board). I hope that someday you too can marry an older black man with a passion for Gingham.
