If I write and record a rap to that beat, will you post that up on the wbesite too???

Let me know before I put in too much work.

I can't even remember where I got that from, someone likely sent it to me.  Does anyone remember the origins of the dreaded RBI Techno theme?

Required listening, here you go:

I'll play 1000 dollars to the first percon that figures out how to get the music out of rbi.  I absolutley need to hear if the pitch is a change up, or if my double play counted.  But I don't want to hear those 2 melodies ever again.  Please god, someone find out how to hack the sound in RBI.

I want to put my own MIDI files in the game.

Nightwulf,

At one point I remember that you were asking for suggestions for new features for the RBI Editor. Would it be possible to make turning the music on/off an option in the RBI Editor? Or even, dare I say, being able to use your own music instead of the tunes that are embedded in the game (obivously, not full-on MP3, but you own MIDI files to replace the ones in the game)?

I doubt the NES would be able to handle a MIDI - NES music is probably in some sort of custom format.  If anyone knows of an editor for it, I'd enjoy playing around with it.

If there isn't already a MIDI file of RBI's music, I'd be willing to try and throw one together.  I believe I have a crappy MIDI editor lying around on my computer somewhere.

Does anyone have the NSF (or equivalent) of RBI's music?  Zophar.net doesn't have it.  That'd probably be a good addition to the media page, too.  Unfortunately, I don't know how to get sound dumps from ROMs.

BeeJay is asking for an RBI MIDI on the phone thread, so give it a whirl....

And for more info on a possible NSF dumper:

Yes, I didn't spend anytime on it.  Better than nothing though..

I hate to do plugs for sites, but...

For all your video game MIDI needs... (http://www.vgmusic.com/)  It's got one somewhere... Just need to dig.

Thanks G-Funk.  I think that was the same site from the old thread, but the links didn't work for some reason.  Now I've just got to fork over 30 bucks for motorola phone tools and I'll have a ring tone to annoy everyone.  Thanks again.

Glad you like it.  Someone had a similar avatar at a snake plissken site I go to.  I laughed every time I saw it, so I decided I'd steal the idea when I joined dee nee.  "I feel, kind of invincible."

What can I say? My habit of getting old video game music lodged in my head helps for once! (I've got the Bo Jackson Hit and Run (GB) music in my head now...  And they don't have it! :'()

See what you think of the attached file.

+ Most of the music is gone.
- Some music still exists (between innings, home run)
- The ball "bounce" and flyball sounds are muted

I'll see about separating the ball sounds, but this is all I've got for now.

Was muting the flyball a side effect?  I assume so by the minus sign in front of it...

Yeah. The flyball and "bounce" sounds are output through the triangle channel, but so is the "bass line" of the music. In the attached ROM, all attempts to write anything to the triangle channel are stopped. This kills part of the music, but inadvertently kills some ball sounds as well.

I'd like to get the ball sounds back, but it'll involve a lot more than simply muting that channel.

Dude, that was totally amazing.  If you could make that a check mark on your rom editor - that would be supreme.

If I coul djust get an IPS that would be cool too.  I have a feeling that If I can play this game with no music I will do somewhat better.  Its just a theory though.

Night - very sweet.  The remaining music isn't bad at all, plus removing the flyball noises adds a bit of challenge in flyball judging.

I like it without the flyball noises.
