No poll, shitheads. Who, in your humble opinion, is the best Latin player on RBI baseball.
fightonusc mentioned this in another thread and he spoke highly of George (Jorge) Bell. I'd have to agree. Not many players have his intimidating power. And he had a killer gheri curl.
-Armas is pretty fucking good, but runs like he's towing an entire covered-wagon caravan behind him.
-Jose Cruz is a decent lefty bat with pretty good speed but he's nothing spectacular and I've been known to sub Puhl or Garner for him.
-Tony Pena, while an RBI god for his autograph story and for beating Chubbs with a walkoff bomb in a 5 game series against Chubbs as NL, has only average power at best.
-The Weapon, Jose Oquendo, has the pinch hit surge going for him but not much else except for a player being able to call a guy "The Weapon."
-Keith Hernandez isn't of latin descent. But I could be wrong. I do love saying "I'm Keith Hernandez."
-Rafael Santana is shit. Check out Gantry's posting levels. It says it all.
-Jose Uribe is perhaps the worst leadoff hitter in the game. Gladden gives him stiff competition but I'd argue Jooreebay takes the cake.
-The Candyman is a pretty good fucking hitter but is prone to streaks. And you expect more out of a cleanup hitter.
-With a name like Chili, you'd think the dude would have some latin in him, but he's black. And I'm pretty sure he thinks for himself.
-Mr 40/40 is obviously the shit and everyone loves hitting with him, but I'd rather take some swings with Jorge.
-Julio Franco, the latin Satchel Paige, will play forever. Unfortunately for his teams, he isn't nearly as fast as he was in RBI and his hitting is even worse - which spells out S-H-I-T for the lepers.
-Benito sucks balls. Never sees an at-bat.
-Pedrique is awful. Never, never, never sees an at-bat.
-Pedro is hot and cold. It really all depends on how many eight balls he has consumed in the last 12 hours. If he's up top 10 8 balls, you can count on a solid game. Otherwise, he's lethargic and shitty.
Please chime in on this thread and be sure and give detailed reasoning behind your choice. And if I missed anyone, add the fucker in.

I don't know about Reginald, but I vote for Bell. I forgot to mention him when I named my "walk every time list", but that guy's a beast.
ps. looking at the power numbers, I can't believe Canseco's a 951. I can't hit for shit with him, and Ripken's a better hitter than Mattingly? I must have more mental problems than I thought.
Beejay, Ripken and Mattingly are not latin, so keep the discussion about them in another thread. This is a thread devoted only to latin players.
But Mattingly is a far superior player to the Iron Shit. Cal is my least favorite player in RBI.
Back to latin players, 40 squared has gotta be the runner up.
I looked it up, and Reggie's mom was Puerto Rican (http://www.amistadmedia.com/answers.htm). I still vote for George Bell, but Reggie deserves to be in the debate.
Also, let's now forget about the pitchers. Uncle Jesse, Senor Smoke and Guilermo Hernandez need love too.

When he was 12 years old, Charles Davis received a terrible haircut, which earned him the unfortunate nickname "Chili Bowl." Later, it was shortened to "Chili."
Assuming Potatoes doesn't count, here's my ranking from mclane's list.
1 - George Bell. No doubt here, massive power and hits the ball everywhere. I don't play with the All-Stars much but when I do Jorge crushes
2 - Jose Canseco. 15 points more power than Bell, but there is no doubt that Bell comes up bigger. Still a stud, but a step below Bell...
3 - Tony Armas. I consider him "overrated" in the grand scheme of things, but there's no doubt that he goes yard often. Too many double plays for my tastes and sometimes takes a game off, but the good games more than make up for it...
4 - Candy Maldonado. Way too streaky, but he's the key to winning in straight pitch with SF. When he is on, SF wins at a much higher pace. Underrated power...
5 - Keith Hernandez. Definitely not a gamebreaker and much maligned because he bats 3rd, but still decent. Left with ok pop, you can definitely do worse. Just ask JoeDirt...
6 - Jose Cruz. I keep him in everygame, so he gets the nod over Pena. Definitely not a power hitter, but gets on base enough for me. Especially for the Astros...
7 - Jose Oquendo. Yes Pena is a better hitter, but Jose makes his presence known for his 1ab. Clutch as they come, just get him out after his dinger.
8 - Tony Pena. Does nothing for me, has the miracle game on occassion. If Ford has a lefty-hit situation, Lindeman sometimes subs for him. If gets one 2-out, bases-empty dinger so the pitcher can bet, I'm a happy man.
9 - Julio Franco. Definitely sucks but you have to get him in the game sometimes. He, Seitzer and Molitor can all jerk off in the corner, but Julio is still playing.
10 - Benito Santiago. Can't remember the last time I batted with him, but I know he's above the rest of the losers.
11 - Jose Uribe. I hate him most because he keeps people from utilizing the full power of Harry Spilman. And he's worthless, no-talent ass clown leadoff man.
12 - Al Pedrique. Everything about Pedrique has already been said...
13 - Rafael Santana. The worst there is, the worst there was and the worst there ever will be...
Okay everyone. Take a cue from Gantry (he ranked his, even better) and myself and discuss the latin players in RBI baseball.

Pedro Guerrero was too dumb to be convicted of buying drugs. The fact that he was somehow forgotten is astounding to me.
I am not going to seperate pitchers and hitters here, let's challenge ourselves to integrate the two.
1. Fernando Valenzuela- If you are a good pitcher in RBI Baseball, you should give up a maximum of one or two runs through 6 or 7 innings with Nando. He is awesome. He hits backdoor sliders that hitters can foul off at the best. He can be the most dominant pitcher in the game, his curve ability is the best in the game.
2. George Bell- Super stud, enough said.
3. Jose Canseco- He is nasty in this game and can always send it out of Tengen Field.
4. Pedro Guererro- This guy can mash, again I am surprised to see him ranked so low, so what if he enjoys a little blow in his free time!
5. Benito Santiago- I am shocked with how low you guys rate this .300, 18 hr hitter who bats third, THIRD, on an all-star team. I think he has good power to the gaps and decent speed. Not to mention that he is great defensively behind the plate (LOL!!).
6. Julio Franco- Another stud, he hits to all fields and has very good speed as well to stretch hits into extra bases.
7. Tony Armas- I agree with gantry's post on this one.
8. Candy Maldonado- underrated. Last night in a series, Gooden left a slow pitch out over the plate and Maldonado absolutely crushed it to left, out of the stadium. Good hitter, decent arm as well in the outfield.
9. Jose Oquendo- I like him as a pinch hitter.

I agree with you here, with the noted exception that Fernando's curve ball is so good sometimes it is hard to control...and if you aren't careful, you can get yourself into stupid trouble over it.
