i think this is the right forum for this.
fightonusc and gantry do really well at tracking down where our beloved RBIers end up, but would it be easier if some of the dee-neers were assigned certain RBIers.
for example, if i were to sign up for Craig Reynolds, i would be responsible for posting news about him, current pictures, birthdays.
maybe we could get our own threads for these? i dunno. it just popped into my head, and i thought it was at least worth mentioning.
let me know what you guys think.
I'm game, we get a posse of 4-5 we can make a dent on the unknown shamers...
i knew i should have posted it in here... damn.
maybe we could just do the 'undesirables,' like the Rafael Santanas and the Steve Lamborginis.
Anyone who is not currently on the HOS is fair game...
Wait, are we talking about the Hall of Shame, or the Where Are They Nows? I'm confused.
Gantry, go back to original Hall of Shame A Thon thread - there's quite a few there that haven't been added to the home page yet...
Everyone but me is talking about WATN, which is an ever better idea...
I'll get those HOS updates shortly...
The thread, so you don't have to go searching for it: http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=3055;start=60 (http://forums.dee-nee.com/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=3055;start=60)
i was thinking if you volunteer to track an RBIer, you'd be responsible for digging up any new info. no matter how old it is. so, WATN, HOS, pics, etc.
How many people do you trust to actually do this?
if people volunteer, they should keep up with their players.
i think all information should be cited with an internet link.
this could be a good opportunity for new members.
i also see this idea never leaving the ground or if it does, having the project become an utter disaster.
What we want is
Information.... Information... Information...
Dissenter - "You won't get it"
"By hook or by crook, we will"
Name that TV show and you have my respect...
I'm game as well.
Nude pics of rbi'ers wives would garner bonus points.

If I was assigned Donnie Moore, would I be responsible for digging up any remains?
This article from June from the Detroit Free-Press (http://www.freep.com/sports/tigers/tigers-lst122e_20040622.htm) has a lot of good information on Tigers players from the 1984 World Series team. Such as...
Juan Berenguer is now a car salesman at Lakeville Ford (http://www.lakevilleford.com/) in the Minneapolis area.
Willie Hernandez moved back to Puerto Rico. He recently sold his construction business and now operates a farm.
Jack Morris does color commentary on Twins games (although, this may not be the case now?)
Dave Bergman still lives in the Detroit area. He is partner and senior portfolio manager at Sigma Investment Counselors (https://www.sigmainvestments.com/SIGMA/WEB/me.get?WEB.websections.show&SCH2741_095) in Southfield. Also a partner and instructor at the The Hitting Zone, an indoor baseball training facility in Mt. Clemens.
Tom Brookens, as I previously reported, coaches his daughters' high school softball team in rural PA.
Darrell Evans is now the "Principal Baseball Consultant" for Netamin (http://www.netamin.com/about005.htm), which claims to have developed the first MMOG environment for sports games.
Lou Whitaker is retired and staying home, "taking care of my kids and getting them through school," he said.
Ruppert Jones lives in San Diego and sells employee benefits to government contractors for the Boon Group (http://www.boongroup.com/index.asp?page=contact&subpage=regionWC).
Chet Lemon is president of the Florida AAU (http://eteamz.active.com/floridaaau/index.cfm?subsite=1263452). His team, Chet Lemon's Juice, recently won its fifth straight Florida AAU state championship. Nearly died of a rare blood disorder in the early '90s, ending his playing career.
Lenny Dykstra (http://www.moderncarcare.com/Articles/251cover.html) owns car washes in Simi Valley and Corona.
Dan Gladden Baseball Camps (http://www.dangladdensbaseballcamp.com/sitepages/pid11.php) include coaches Gene Larkin and Tim Laudner.
Gene Larkin is also a financial advisor at New Era Financial (http://www.globalbridgeinc.com/corporate/Board1.asp) in Minneapolis.

i posted a picture of him washing a car a few weeks ago -- it all makes sense now
Tom Herr was named the first-ever manager of the Lancaster (Pa) Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League. (http://lancasterbarnstormers.com/news.cfm?newsID=20)
Tom Henke owns a farm in Missouri. (http://mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/news/mlb_news_story.jsp?article_id=mlb_20020124_WHYGhenke_news&team_id=mlb)
Morris did color on Twins games, but never regularly - he was Gladden's replacement when Gladden took a week off to go to the Sturgis bike rally. Previous subs (Gladden makes the trip every year) were Kent Hrbek, Kirby Puckett, and Gene Larkin. I don't know that Morris has a regular job other than that. If he does, it's flexible enough that he could come down to Rochester to watch his sun play baseball in the middle of the afternoon (he was at a game I went to this summer).
Herr has been added to the WATN...
How do you think I should handle the rest of the WATN entries? Should I just add "non baseball WATN" or "RBI'ers in the workplace" entry to the add and put all the non-baseball stuff there?
Doesn't non-work related updates still fall under where are they now? If not, maybe under each WATN update, you can add a "And What They're Doing Now" tag with the add'l update?
I just realized I have a Tom Henke autographed baseball, for some reason I never made the connection to RBI.
Gantry, if you ever start an RBI museum, I will gladly donate it.
Last night I sent an e-mail to Rupperto at link to his company's Web site that posted earlier. I was sober, so hopefully it was polite enough to get a response. I link to the profile of Rupperto on the Dee-Nee site (http://dee-nee.com/rbi/heroes/ruppert.shtml), so hopefully he gets a chance to see how loved he is. I'll keep you posted if I get a response.
(And no, I'm not going to call the cell phone number listed on that link, and you shouldn't either...)
Darrell Evans updte: He's been named [ulr=http://www.goldenbaseball.com/ArDisplay.aspx?ID=219&SecID=123]manager of the Long Beach entry[/url] in the new Golden League independent baseball league. There's a team in Tijuana, which should make for some interesting road trips...
