Title: Two RBI'rs Denied Arbitration
Post by: TβG on 12/08/04, 11:26:21 AM
Last night was the deadline for clubs to offer arbitration to their players.  If no arbitration was offered, it effectively ends that team's relationship with it's player and turns him loose on the free agent market.  The team is eligible to negotiate with the player after May 1st if the player hasn't signed anywhere else.

the two players are:  Ellis "Tim" Burks, and Andres "Big Cat" Galarraga

Good post Teddy, meant to mention it also, article I read confirmed that Burks intended to retire.  No mention of the Big Cat's plans

Burks has been meaning to retire for about a year now, hasn't he? Although it still was pretty cool that he gets to go out as world champion on the first Sox team to do it in just about forever.

I still think the big cat might try to play some more... Didn't he have some big career milestone like 400 HRs or 2,000 hits that he was just a couple short of?
