This topic is a potential hotbed for controversy. I for one think Rose can go to hell. I would never let him in whether he apologized or not.
Rose was a stud. I could give a rats ass if he bet on baseball or not. Who doesn't bet?
Which of Rose's 4,256 hits came because anyone liked him, he bet on baseball, or he was a prick. He made a record that few, if any will ever approach.
There is no question that he should be in the Hall no matter how much of a failure of a human he is!
i dont think it matters on if he will get in the hall, its when, im 99 percent sure hes getting in. the reason they are waiting is because they are waiting for him to die so he cant enjoy it
No question about it Rose deserves and should be in the hall of fame. Whether he gambled or not doesnt matter, he should be in for the things he did that mattered on the field like his 4,256 hits and his aggressive play that shows how the game should really be played. MLB is just waiting for him to admit he gambled so they can officially state he bet and therefore can't be in.
rose is guilty... on top of that he is arrogant... all he needs to do is admit that he made a mistake and he would be inducted. unfortunately for rose, his big ego gets in the way and he is too proud to fess up... as far as i am concerned, he should get in postumously and no sooner...
I have to agree with jcbball86 and Gwynn3k. Let the man never experience his induction. No doubt that what he accomplished on the field was dynamite. Therefore he deserves to be in the Baseball Hall of Fame, yet at the same time he shouldn't have the right to enjoy it. Induct Pete Rose in 2060.

Here's what I don't get. What does is matter if he admits it or not? Why does it make it better if he does admit to gambling? Let's say he really didn't gamble on baseball. Why should he admit it? Now lets say he did gamble. Admitting it doesn't change the fact that he did it.
Right now baseball is in bad shape. Every decision maker within MLB makes poor decisions. (especially marketing the sport) If there was one player who defined greatness as a player, it's Rose. He played the way everyone should play now. He probably wasn't as talented as other players, but he made the best of what he had. Who does that now?
So now you have a lot of players who made a career because they juiced, or scuffed the ball, or corked their bats. They're going to get in and Rose isn't. Most of these assholes could give a shit about baseball (I'm looking at you Barry) and Rose would make a great manager or GM. He knows the game as well as anyone else. So he gambled and lied about it. Who cares?
