OK, I'm usually not that bad with computers but I'm getting nowhere with RBI so far. I finally got my new computer so I thought I'd get everything set up to try out some of these roms but I'm completely clueless. I've been trying to go by the FAQ and I have winzip, Nesticle and the original RBI rom but have no idea where to go from here. I'm stressed now and it's causing me to drink Strohs by myself on a Thursday night which can't be healthy. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have no idea how to help but I'm also drinking on a Thursday night. High Life is good, especially when the wife is unhappy for some reason.
Nothing wrong with the High Life. Drinking is helping me avoid feeling like a complete dumbass because this stuff apparently just always works fine for everybody else.
I'm gonna try and get it to work next week. Then I'll beat your ass whenever you want. ;)
Just out of curiosity, do you even remember how many games we played when you came by? I have no recollection whatsoever. Mmmm, beer is good. Good fucking times.
Not a clue. I do remember we played alot more than what we posted online but don't remember the results.
A couple days ago I did find the RBI Scoreboard Jason and I kept for the whole trip and I went 10-2 against him. I had almost forgot about my 10-0 Houston over National against him at your house. Apparently we also played a 28-17 game that had 13 HR's from each team which I have no recollection of.
Definitely good times.
Well, I just tried to set up FCE and I have zero fucking luck. Download that fucker (hope it's the right version,) unzip it, double click and nothing happens. A black, dos-like screen pops up for a sec, but that's it.
I wish I could teleport Gantry or nightwulf to my house so they could make it work.
Yeah really. Winzip wouldn't even open the FCE Ultra file i downloaded so I went with Nesticle. I then got the same dos-like black screen that you talked about. Yeah, I definitely need help.
Nesticle is the worst emulator made since the existence of emulators. It fucking sucks. After I close the program- everything turns purple on my desktop.
Do you know what version you downloaded? Here's a direct link (http://fceultra.sourceforge.net/releases/fceu-0.98.12.win.zip) (hopefully) to 0.98.12, which should work for online play.
Assuming you're using Windows, you should just have to unzip the program somewhere (make sure you extract all the files in the zip file) and double-click FCEU.exe. It should come up with a little black window with a menu bar, and you can load ROMs from the "File" menu. alt-enter switches to and from full-screen.
You should put the ROMs in whatever folder you unzipped FCEUltra to. For example, if you extracted everything in the zip file to C:\NES, put rbi.nes in that same folder.
Hopefully that helps. If not, let me know where you're running into problems and we'll go from there.
A big DEE-NEE goes out to BeefMaster! I don't know what I was doing last night but I just followed along with your post and had RBI up and running in probably less than 2 minutes. Thanks man.
This makes me cry

Of course, you neglect to mention the fact you cry every time you look into a mirror :P
Little help here... I thought this was a Viagra thread.
Little more help needed here...
So I picked up this controller from Wal Mart which happens to be the only controller for sale in town with a USB cable because GameStop didn't have shit. Anyway, the thing looks like a mix between a PS2 and Xbox control and I figured there would be some way to make it work but it doesn't do anything when I bring up RBI.
So basically I just thought I'd ask on here and see whether there's anything I can do or if I should just take this bitch back to Wal Mart. I plan on getting a Retropad but just wanted to play right now if possible and I refuse to use the keyboard. I'd like to believe that those aren't my only 2 options.
Again, any help would be greatly appreciated.
OK, if you are using FCE Ultra, you can go into the "Config" pulldown menu and select "Input". From there, you should be able to configure the buttons to match the NES controller buttons.
Thanks. Got it up and going last night. I've been playing the hell out of the college ROM all day.
Holy shit. I've got it working. But I have no controller and don't know the keyboard controls.
Time to order that NES controller for the computer. I"m too lazy to find the link. Any help, please?
Nevermind, found the link and it should be here shortly.
I'll be down for games anytime after 9 pm mountain time. Bitches.
Still need a little help figuring out the keyboard configuration. I know alt does a lot, but how does one return to a base? Thank you, gentlemen.
I don't know why I didn't do this sooner.
Baines, I'll beat your ass in any ROM. Actually, you'll kill me me because I'm using a keyboard but hwo gives a shit. I wanna play!
fknmclane - Check out the first post on this page, by fightonusc. You can set up the controls to whatever keys you want using that same menu.

I want to play some RBI bitches...let's go
Yet again I've proven to be a complete dumbass and need more help.
I've been playing around making ROMs and have been working one for my friends and I that is basically the original with Parish State and the 1990 Reds replacing the all star teams.
Well the first time I messed around with it I created the PSU team just fine, downloaded it and played a few games. So far so good, so I went back to add the Reds and when I went to download it I got this:

I didn't want to lose everything so I saved it on the site but when I went back to open it the ROM was completely blank. I just can't figure out how I did it right the first time but can't do it now. I wish I wasn't such a computer illiterate bitch.
Ok, I can save it on the site now as long as I do it as one that all users have access to. Just didn't want to do that yet cause it wasn't finished. Still can't download it though.
Edit: Actually nevermind. Still comes up blank when I try to load it from the site. I'm a fucking dumbass.
nightwulf is going to have to help you out here, send him an IM so knows to look here...
QuoteI am finding that "Alt" is the A-Button but you also pauses the game in session...
The Alt button is also mapped to the main menu, press the "F3" button before you start a game to get rid of the menu. When you are done playing, hit F3 again and the menu will return...
Got everything taken care of. Enjoying my new ROM.
Everytime Beej and I try and play a game, 2nd player can never move. Don't get it. Please help.
Does player one see the message "Remote State Loaded" or something like that at the bottom of the rbi screen when P2 connects?
I don't remember seeing that come up, but that doesn't mean that it didn't. Each time we try to play, everything works fine for the 1st player. The second player sees the 1st player pick his team, yet can't do anything. Everything continues to look normal for 1st player while the 2nd player's screen is essentially frozen.
P1 will always see that message in bold red letters at the bottom of his screen, if you two are connected correctly.
You guys should make sure you have the same fceu and are both using the exact same rom...i'd both re-download a rom from dee-nee just to make sure it's the same version.
we definitely had the same rom. Maybe it wasn't the same version of the emulator. Thanks Joe.
I'm pretty sure I downloaded fce from a link Beef provided. Maybe it isn't the same thing. Good point, Joe.
Don't think I've ever seen the red writing on the bottom. We do have the same ROM, at least we know that much.

The newest version of FCEUltra is 0.98.12, and when online first became available, the version was 0.98.10. I know lots of people are still on 0.98.10, myself probably included, and I don't know whether different versions are compatible. It looks like FCEUltra's website is down right now, so you can't get to the older version, but here (http://www.zophar.net/nes.html) is a link to the newest version on another site. You can just unzip it and copy your ROMs over to the new directory.
Thanks Beef. I'll give it a try. Beej (or anyone for that matter,) lemme know when you're ready for a beating...or more frustration due to my stupidity.
