Title: Fantasy League Week 9
Post by: fightonusc on 12/21/04, 12:27:47 PM
Well, I'm sitting Candy's ass on the bench - I have to do something to shake the roster up...other than that, no changes reported since last week's games, so rosters are set. I'm going to try and get all the games done over the week, but it's no guarantee with Christmas this weekend.

Needless to say, this is a huge week as the second half of the season starts to heat up. We have six teams within a game of the playoffs, and this week should go far in determining the playoff contenders from the pretenders. We've got two games with 4-4 teams going up against 3-5 teams, and two others featuring the suddenly staggering league leaders.

Rosters, stats, etc. are, as usual, available at http://fantasyrbi.rbicentral.com/ (http://fantasyrbi.rbicentral.com/).

The new ROM is attached. You'll notice that I changed the averages, HRs and ERAs to reflect the stats from the Fantasy RBI season (it doesn't impact the performance, just the visual on-screen). With the ERA, since Nightwulf's editor can't handle four digit ERAs, if you see someone with a 1.45 ERA, that actually means a 14.5 ERA (rounding up the hundredth, it could be anywhere from 14.45 to 14.54). Similarly, a 0.90 ERA means someone with a 9.00 ERA.

Also, if a PH or pitcher is batting 1.000, I had to input it as .999.,

One last thing - I finally went ahead and gave every team the same error ratio. I let the way we decided it slide for the first half of the season, but with nightwulf's change to make error ratios editable, I thought it would be good to even the playing field out a bit here.

The Poopydicks vs. BeefMaster game is done. Again, video problems, so I don't know if that's going to work. All I can say about the game is this: I have no speech. A truly memorable match-up.

On a related note, does anyone actually watch the videos of the games? If people do, I'll keep working to try and fix the problems and get them edited and up there. If not, then I won't worry about it.

Thanks, working now.

FYI, On website league leaders for HRs has Bell instead of Dawson.

Cool, it's updated now.

I'm going to bust the RBI Baseball Tonight into its own thread...

Cool, I will attempt to get the video problem sorted out, although I can't make any promises. I think I'm missing a codec, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, without video, here's the Fighting Tony Danzas @ Stiffs game recap:

The Stiffs needed a team effort against the Fighting Tony Danzas to pull out of a three-game slide, and they certainly got it. Each starter had at least two runs and two RBI as part of a 25-20 victory in a Fantasy RBI League game played Wednesday at Tengen Stadium.

The Fighting Tony Danzas (3-6) lost despite an unusual burst of power from Benito Santiago, who belted two home runs and drove in four. Kirk Gibson added six RBI and a home run

The Stiffs (6-3) pounded out 31 hits and 10 home runs, and won despite committing four errors. Bobby Grich, Jack Clark and Jose Canseco each homered twice.

Well, at least I scored in the double digits this week. Although this time my relief pitching let me down, which I really didn't expect...

Game Summary:

Ellis Burks' didn't the ball very well, but it was enough for Da ShitPaws, as the Creamy Pirates' defense collapsed to let the winning run score in the bottom of the eighth inning for a 20-19 ShitPaws victory in a Fantasy League game played Wednesday afternoon at Tegen Stadium.

With Terry Pendleton at third and Tim Teufel at second with one out, Burks hit a grounder to third. Pendleton was caught iin a rundown, but Creamy Pirates' catcher Jose Cruz, playing out of position, threw to third to try to get Teufel out rather than chasing Pendleton bakc and applying a tag. The throw was late, and Pendleton scored while Burks was safe at first.

The victory marked the fourth in a row for Da ShitPaws (5-4) and moved them into a third place tie with The OC, one game back of the co-league leaders. Tony Armas paced the ShitPaws hitting attack with two home runs and six RBI, while Bob Boone drove in five.

Several line-up changes couldn't help The Creamy Pirates (3-6), who dropped their fourth straight and fell into a last-place tie.  They did not help themselves in the field, as along with the eighth inning blunder, they committed three errors that lead to three unearned ShitPaw runs. Dale Murphy and Doug DeCinces each broke out of power slumps with two home runs.

I was able to get the video working, I think. Nimords/OC video should be on the Web site...I'll post the recap later.

Link is working now - it's still an ugly game, but you can break down what went wrong at least...

I think I know what went wrong, I forgot to tell my players that the 1.46 next to Gooden's name meant that his ERA was 14.60, not really 1.46

Hey, our teams are both at a -3 run differential for the season, yet you're 6-3 and I'm 3-6. Talk about not being able to win close games...

Game Summary:

Dwight Gooden shut down the potentn Nimrods bats, tossing a six-hitter to lead The OC to an 11-1, five-inning mercy rule victory in a Fantasy League game played Thursday afternoon at Tengen Stadium.

Only Andre Dawson's RBI double in the third ruined Gooden's shutout. Meanwhile, The OC's (5-4) bats were led by Don Mattingly, who homered and drove in four.

The Nimrods (6-3) fell into a first-place tie with The Stiffs with the defeat, while The OC moved a game back of the league leaders in a tie for third.

hey man, the attendance wasn't "0" there were thousands of OC fans there cheering their team on to victory... our attendance has jumped since we started winning more games and after the signing of a marquee player, michael jack schmidt.
