Are we going to get some NYC RBI going again or what?

i'd like to be there, but only if only one sp allowed and anything goes curve-wise.  is that the way you guys play?

this straight pitch stuff is mind boggling to me.

The only minor difference is that they play 2 SP, still anything goes curve.

2 sp is a whole different animal.  One big reason I am Big Apple Champ is that I wait guys out, get 'em tired and then assault the tired relievers in late innings.  It would take me years to adapt my game to 2 sp.  I'd have to completely change my approach.  I can't unlearn my style, which has taken decades of honing to perfect.

With 2 SP, it's even more important to "wait guys out."  For sure.

Also, I was just like you--a die-hard 1 SP player (for 15 years).  I changed to 2 SP only because I joined the COTUT (a nat'l tourney in Chicago)...my buddy and I gave ourselves 3 or so months to learn and practice 2 SP--he ended up winning the tourney and I placed 4th.

And we both agree, 2 SP is better (just like you probably do now, I would never have guessed I'd think that)...

consider it?

I'll definitely consider entering the tourney, however I disagree that 2 SP rule makes waiting out pitchers more important.  You can't wait out 2 SP and 2 RP.  There's no reason to even try.  I would have a much more aggressive approach at the plate with 2 SP rule.

You can tire them out to a lesser extent, but it does happen, I agree with you though that 1 SP is the best way.

when i play , i keep it close until the end.  i have both a moderately energetic first reliever and my closer in the bullpen, whereas the other guy is throwing lollipops with his last reliever in the 9th, and i pummel him and win going away.  that's my m.o. and it will not play well in COTUT, but perhaps i'll give it a go.

I'm confused - does the 2 SP rule require that you use both pitchers?  And if so, do you have to remove your 1st starter after the 4th inning, like the computer does?

...will too.  Your game sounds exactly like my game.  I do the exact same thing.  It works beautifully with 2 SP.  As I see it, here is are the major differences:

1 SP...take a shitload of pitches and tire SP out.  Results in 1st RP enter game early.  Take shitload of pitches and tire 1st RP out.  Results in 2nd RP enter game early.  Take shitload of pitches and tire 2nd RP out.  Results in slow/none-moving pitches to be thrown for duration of game.  If you are able to keep your pitcher(s) fresh, you have a huge advantage, as your final pitcher will hit 70 mph or whatever in 8-9th innings and your opponent's will be hitting 60 mph or whatever.

2 SP...tire out 1st SP...bring in 2nd SP and tire him out...1 RP and 2nd RP...tire out--you get it.

If you can keep your pitcher(s) fresh, then you still have a major advantage--by the 9th inning, your opponent will be throwing 70 mph type stuff and you will be throwing 90 mph type stuff--big difference.

Also, from my experience at the COTUT, most of the "advanced" players seemed to save the worst RP for extra inning situations...whereas the "less advanced" required the use of all 4 pitchers to try to stay close.
