Does anyone know why the fuck dee-nee.com's server is so slow while trying to play online RBI? Starmen has been down, and starmen is consistenly more smooth and has a hell of a lot less lag. What the shit? Nards. Boobs.
I've noticed this too. The combo of dee-nee being so slow and starmen not working at all has totally killed the online RBI efforts.
Is there a way for "us" to fix this?
When did this issue start? Often times the site traffic will slow things down. Testing at a time when only 1-2 people are on makes a difference. I have a feeling you'll get slowdown as someone is posting a message on the forums. Perhaps I should try our mail server to see if that helps...
I wonder if its a server issue or bandwidth issue. Does starmen have any plans of coming back?
I have no idea. I don't know who/what starmen is...just that it worked wonderfully for a few months and them it pooped itself out.
Hmm, this does suck... Tell you what, I'm going to try to put the server on a different system at work. I'll get it going tonight and give you the ip/hostname to test out. This will tell us if it's our T1 line or the server that is limiting...
Isn't Starmen a movie from the 80's?

Starman (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088172/?fr=c2l0ZT1kZnxteD0yMHxzZz0xfGxtPTIwMHx0dD1vbnxwbj0wfHE9c3Rhcm1hbnxodG1sPTF8bm09b24_;fc=1;ft=21;fm=1)
I've never seen it, but since it's early John Carpenter, it's gotta be good.
Thank you for putting more work into online RBI than I do. A bit tired tonight, so i'll put it on the other server tomorrow night. If you don't hear anything by late tomorrow night, drop me a friendly PM to remind...
Looks like it's time to compile a new gcc on the other server. Man, we gotta get some updated machines at the office! Will take a few hours...

Even I don't compile gcc. :-\
Nightwulf
The ONLY app I've ever needed a new gcc is this 30kB FCE server. And it's just about the only one where I'd waste my time doing so. Go figure...
Ran "make boostrap" about 90 minutes ago, sill going strong...
OK, gcc finally updated and I got the FCE server running on another server. The DNS make take a little while to update, so try one or the other for the hostname of the server in the network config:
online.dee-nee.com
209.242.26.85
Give it a test and let me know how it goes... That system is barely used after 6pm and on the weekend, that would be the best time to try...

I saw this flick when I was a little Estevez...I liked it, but then again I thought What's Happening was a great show. So who knows...
This sucks... I guess to really narrow this down I'd have to get a new server going. I have a customer server that I can temporarily put the FCEU server on to make sure it's not a problem with the OS or hardware. Both servers (online.rbicentral.com & dee-nee) have very similar hardware (p3, 600-800mhz, 256mb or so of RAM) and software (redhat 7.3, custom compiled gcc) so I really didn't eliminate all that much...
Got a brand new Dell poweredge that is getting Linux put on in a couple days, check back here for another test. If this one is still slow, then it's our T1 line that is the weak link. That, unfortunately, cannot be fixed...
Do you have a full T1 or an integrated T1?
Full T1...
Again, NSFW, motherfuckers...
That's not safe for anybody.
